I was just looking over the roster of those that signed-up. I count nine people from the board - and I may not be able to correlate board names for all those that have signed-up, so if I missed you, please chime in. Here's the list of attendees, that I came up with, from the board...

Smokin50

Jon

NYMetsFan86

Shocker

Irish Pete

Irish Pete's Boss

Howard

See you there.

I am in for this. I will need to go over the rules for reloads!! The last time I shot IDPA I got so many procedurals for reloading on the move and dropping mags with rounds still in them it wasn't pretty.

So if anyone has a brief explanation on the reloading that would be helpful. I know you must be behind cover but not so sure what it means when they say you can pivot but no sure what that means.

I think you can drop an empty mag but never one that still has a round in it?

Empty mags can be dropped. Mags with remaining rounds cannot.

Pivot is just like in basketball, one foot can move but you lift the other and you get called. You can only drop a mag when it and the gun are empty. You can change mags with retention if you want.

1 Spot left open

I wish I could make it but with baby I can't stay out that long really.

It gets better, I promise.

BTW I forgot that we can't reload on the move anymore behind cover... Stupid...

Looks like FHLX, another forum member, will be participating also. And if Golf Battery gets his act together in time, he will too. There is still one slot and appx 22 hrs left to register.

I replied to FHLX re: loading, via e-mail, but thought it might do some of the new people some good to see it also. I'm sure that Stu covered this, as will whoever does the safety briefing, but it never hurts to repeat things...

  • Both the gun and the magazine must be empty (slide lock) before you can just drop a mag.
  • Round left in gun or in mag means you must do a reload with retention. Once new mag is in gun and slide forward (ready to fire) you may resume movement. However, you cannot resume firing until the mag you removed is stowed.
  • All reloads are done behind cover. No movement during reloading – you may pivot, but one foot must be kept planted.
  • Exception to above – if you are caught in the open with an empty gun (slide lock), you may initiate a reload while moving to cover. Once cover is achieved, the above “no movement” rule applies.
  • All shooting must be done from behind cover, if available. Cover = 100% of lower body + 50% of upper body.
  • Tactical Priority: From Cover –  Shoot targets as you see them. Slice the pie. / In the Open – Shoot targets near to far.
  • Tactical Sequence: All targets must receive one round before any subsequent rounds are fired.

That about covers it.
