Glock 42 owners

Give the S&W Bodyguard 380 a look. They make it without the laser (not needed imo) to bring the price closer the Ruger and KelTec. I've been carrying one for over a year and it's run 100% on any 380 ammo.

I agree here. The gun just runs and runs. I tried at least 5 .380 pocket guns and this one beat them all by a mile. If Iwanted to spend more on something I might go with the Sig. However it's a lot more money. The laser isn't intuitive because it needs a hard press but as mentioned it comes without it as well.My laser gets used as a toy for the dog. She loves chasing it.

One of they guys at work has one. It is much more "shootable" than my LCP. Better sights, much better trigger, and the larger size makes it more controllable; but the LCP better fits my needs for a .380 pistol and the way/reason I carry it. I do like the updated LCP with updated "real" sights. Mine has the vestigial nubs that are barely useful which makes qualifying at 25 yards a but spicy.

The S&W Bodyguard is very nice. More shootable than the LCP - comparable to the G42 - but closer in size to the LCP. If I didn't already have the LCP when the Bodyguard was released, I would have gotten that instead. If I could find a way to trade for one I would, but when it comes down to it, I don't need or want to pistols in .380ACP.

My advice, the G42 is a nice shooting .380 pistol in a compact package. Reliability is still unknown as it is a new item, and there were early reports of some issues - but those have dried up. But if you are planning to use this as a carry or self defense piece, I would wait for the G42 sized 9mm that's rumored to be released next - same size, same capacity, but fires a cartridge with tremendously more effective terminal ballistics. I am eagerly awaiting it's announcement and release.

I am still flummoxed that a .380 ACP single stack subcompact Glock went into production prior to a 9mm in the same configuration and size. IMO, if the gun is gonna be that size, it should be chambered in a more useful caliber.
