Desert Eagle .50AE - my next purchase?

If you buy a desert eagle by the 31st of this month, you get a free magazine by mail. I faxed them the receipt and the form yesterday and today I got the tracking number for the magazine.

I rented at WP today, I thought 50 bucks was heavy considering a platinum membership, but it was a ton of fun to shoot. I Need to get a permit but I'd really like one of these.

I was able to get one at Ottomanelli's now just waiting for permits.  I got 200 rounds of hornady 300 gr on gun broker for 171.50 delivered from a place in PA.

I shot one this week and I don't see the appeal. It's not heinous, but why? The grips are as slick as snot and the  rental I shot broke after 2 rounds. The range owner says they have 14 spares because it breaks so often.
