7-3-2 9 Posted October 6, 2014 So I am the guy who started the shield vs 357 thread and when looking the marketplace I came across this: http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/classifieds/item/3273-new-ar-15-type-nj-legal-pistol/ Now, this isnt the first time I have ever seen an ar-15 pistol but its the first time I have ever considered it MAYBE (still leaning in the other direction) being a purchase option for me. Does anyone have one? I imagine it may actually be the best HD gun you can have (as far as pistols go) anyway, I more or less was just wondering if anyone has shot one at the range and how does it measure up vs the 357 for wow and fun factors? JT Custom Guns 956 Posted October 6, 2014 I have the Original Professional Ordnance Carbon 15 Pistol in stock. Here is the listing for a matched set (which I may consider breaking up): http://njgunforums.com/forum/index.php/classifieds/item/3179-professional-ordnance-carbon-15-pistol-rifle-set-556/
PD2K 115 Posted October 6, 2014 Doesn't look very comfortable to shoot. Seems to be more novelty than practicality.
Polak 3 Posted October 6, 2014 Doesn't look very comfortable to shoot. Seems to be more novelty than practicality.Wrong. It shoots like any handgun but with a lot less recoil. I have the carbon 15. It's awesome.
Contrvlr 17 Posted October 6, 2014 Wrong. It shoots like any handgun but with a lot less recoil. And crap load of muzzle flash, wouldn't use it for HD
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted October 6, 2014 It does have Muzzle Flash, can't get around that and I wouldn't recommend it for Home Defense simply because there are better HD solutions (both handling & storage) That being said - it is a fun gun to shoot, ownership comes with bragging rights and it is a collectible. It has it's place, but not for HD - jmo

JT Custom Guns 956 Posted October 11, 2014 Carbon 15 pistols (or any other SA) pistol can have a FH as long as they meet the criteria for NJ compliance. That being said, the Carbon 15's did not come with flash hiders, they came with muzzle breaks and since the barrel has a propriitary design that allows the MB to quickly disconnected, the chances of finding a flash hider to fit the barrel are slim to none. At least I have never seen a factory FH for a Carbon 15, but new & exciting things pop up all the time........
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted October 11, 2014 I think there may be a threaded adapter that would allow you to install a FH -let me check........
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted October 11, 2014 Looks like possibly Bushmaster has one, but this is the only photo I could find:
njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted October 11, 2014 As long as the FH is permanently attached to the adapter (so the threads are no longer accessible) you're good to go (IMHO) You still only have 1 evil feature: B. a semi-automatic pistol that has an ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least 2 of the following: an ammunition magazine that attaches to the pistol outside of the pistol grip; a threaded barrel capable of accepting a barrel extender, flash suppressor, forward handgrip, or silencer; a shroud that is attached to, or partially or completely encircles, the barrel and that permits the shooter to hold the firearm with the nontrigger hand without being burned; manufactured weight of 50 ounces or more when the pistol is unloaded; and a semi-automatic version of an automatic firearm; and,
