Old FFL - interesting find

Recommended Posts

I don't know if anyone else finds this stuff interesting, but I do...

I'm finishing up going through some family stuff from an estate and I found an FFL my great-uncle had back in 1942. The date is hard to read but it's there.  It was taped to the back of a picture that was hanging in my uncle's dining room since before I can remember.  I had no idea he was even interested in guns much less had an FFL.  He passed about 10 years ago.

I'll get this framed and hung on my home office wall as a decoration.

Anyone seen one that is older?

I wish I knew.  Unfortunately it's lost to history.  He was a machinist for Bell Labs before he retired.  I met him in 1976 when my aunt and uncle got married (both were in their late 30's.  My uncle and I talked firearms all the time but nothing ever came up about his father.  And there was nothing in the estate that was NFA-related, just my uncle's service weapons (ex-LEO) and some he brought back from Europe when his enlistment was up.
