Norinco SKS Firing Pin Retainer Stuck

I'm having trouble removing the firing pin retainer on my Norinco SKS (cross style bayonet).  The darn thing won't come out with a punch.  I tried a few light taps with a hammer to no avail.  Any suggestions on how to remove it?

don't be bashful use a 1/8 punch and drive it out...they are in there very well.

make sure to clean the pin and the hole really well as rust likes to build up in there...which makes the gun dangerous (full auto slam fires)

Use a punch as close to the full diameter of the pin as possible so, you don't peen the edges of the pin.

Get a 2X4 and drill a relief hole for the pin to enter. And go to town on it.

You may want to soak the bolt in a penetrating solvent first.

I agree some are tough.  And if you don't have everything clean inside it WILL slam fire.

Thanks guys!  The penetrating oil and 2x4 did the trick.  I also put a bit more elbow into it.  They're built tough.

 

I'll be at CR around 12:30 trying it out!
