effd27145 0 Posted October 24, 2014 As I have finally reached a happy spot with my first build (2 years, and multiple changes later) and starting on a second, I am now putting many more rounds through my ar then I did in the past. This now has me toying with the idea of actually putting together a spare parts kit to pretty much diagnose and fix any minor to significant issue in the field, this came around as my friends ar the other day stopped cycling as the roll pin in his gas block somehow came out which his gas tube then followed. He was out of commission the rest of the day. Did a search and couldn't find any related threads, so how many of you have already made up a diy parts kit for issues in the field and if so post up some photos so I can steal your ideas. I'm aiming to have a kit with almost everything you need but will probably start off with just the basic parts, Detent's, Springs, Pins, Bolt Parts, Ect.... Lalo 13 Posted October 24, 2014 I'd just start off with a spare LPK, gas rings, extractor and bolt.
effd27145 0 Posted October 24, 2014 I'd just start off with a spare LPK, gas rings, extractor and bolt. Im not even looking for a full lpk off the bat, I already have a general idea of how I want to approach a kit and what I want it in at first, but figured I would post up a thread to get the idea in the minds of others on here and for those to post up setups they already have. RUTGERS95 889 Posted October 24, 2014 brownells has lpk minus fcg for $29. I would buy 2 of these and then a spare bolt, rings, and you are set
MidwestPX 172 Posted October 24, 2014 I keep a full BCG in my bag because it's an easy way to keep the bolt, cam pin, firing pin, and retainer in one convenient spot. I also recently added a LTG LPK after I rounded off the tip of the selector detent in my heavily-used LMT SBR.
n4p226r 105 Posted October 24, 2014 i have a few lower parts kits and stuff like that. but as for parts that i actually bought for "replacement parts" i have a spare bolt, 2 firing pins, a BCM bolt rebuild kit, 3 extra gas rings are there any parts i'm missing?
