S.I.R.T. Training Pistol - It's Great!

Recommended Posts

My wife just bought me the S.I.R.T. Performer model (4oz lighter than true weight/Pro model) as an anniversary gift and I have to say, I was a little skeptical about it's uses. I wasn't sure how effective a laser pistol would be for dry firing practice. Would the trigger feel like a G17? Would the laser be accurate enough? Bright enough? ....the answers are all YES. It even has a weighted magazine that you can practice reloads with. You can buy more as well. I love this little guy and keep it in my backpack that goes everywhere with me. All week I've been finding myself a minute or two of free time, here and there, just dry firing for fun. I can say this because I didn't have to pay $200 but, if you can make the investment, do it.

Why not just get the Laerlyte targeting system and/or target cans. Should work fine for that. Then you can walk around at home popping shots at real targets.

I thought about that but, those poppers are expensive and reportedly don't work well unless the lighting is dim. I do plan on getting LASR. It's software that utilizes a webcam to record your shots. It also allows you to turn anything into a "target" and has an array of different start and hit sounds to help enhance the "game" of dry firing. Also, being able to see a laser and it's movement as I fire has been a tremendous eye opener.

I don't have the cans and you are right. They are too expensive. And unless you have kids that you can bribe with pizza, you are the pin setter.

I do have the target system and love it. Made massive improvements in my shooting.

Haven't looked into the software enough, but don't you have to have a computer in the room? Mine is in my den and I'd rather have my whole house a target area.

I would use my laptop to put it where I would like, including my backyard. Also, you dont need access to every room in your house because you can turn virtually anything into a target. You can re-size IDPA type target on a pc and mount various targets simulating various distances, all in your living room. If you don't want to tape targets to the wall, you can use the software to outline things already in the room to mark them as your targets. If you dont hit within your outlined target, you get no shot reaction from the software, but it counts the miss.
