Any Advice For First Hunt

Recommended Posts

Remember it's about the hunt not the kill.

One shot one kill.  The animal deserves that much.

Safety as the others have said,  If you're on ground, get your back up against a tree.

Don't do anything that makes you look like a deer.  NO, NO white handkerchiefs please.

Wear blaze orange.

Make sure your rifle is sighted in properly and you are using the ammo you used to sight in. Wash with scent elimination soap and use on hair. Use scent eliminating deodorant. Wear layers if you are going to do a lot of scouting / stalking as you do not want to sweat too much as you will get cold later. Try and not get too excited when you get a shot and exhale slowly as you squeeze off. Make sure you follow the regs in NY in case you run into fish and game and they are douche bags like jersey

One of the most important things many experienced hunters tend to forget is HAVE FUN because if your not enjoying the hunt what the hell is the point. I have talked with many hunters and fisherman that have forgot this over the years and look at hunting and fishing more like a job than a pastime. and yes everyone else has good points too

First hunt delayed :(

I've caught the coughing, sneezing, feeling like crud thing that's going around. On antibiotics and lots of rest this weekend.

Maybe next weekend.

Too bad. Get better.

They're calling for snow flurries Sat & Sun this weekend in some areas.
