Interesting discussion.  Got to meet Deerslayer too.  Was a little surprised to come out at 9:30pm and find two inches of snow on my car.  Most of it was still on the roof after I pulled into the garage, as you can see below:

The snow is crazy, actually sticking to the road by my house in Hopatcong on top of this God forsaken mountain. Almost 3 inches already, don't think it will stay around long thankfully.

I think they said if they told us Dave's last name they would have to kill us, or maybe I just missed it.  These are the guys that do the Utah & Florida training and offer a few other courses at RTSP.  I had the feeling that this was a beta run for the course which is why it was free, and there might be a charge for it in the future - but the latter is just my guess.

Ammunition: types, caliber sizes, penetration differences.

Accessory differences: lights, sights, holsters.

Awareness: how to avoid conflict, going with your human intuition. Firearms: different types of actions, using what works for you.

safety: personal & firearm.

watched some police video and security footage of conflicts, then spoke about them, what went right what was wrong. Spoke about how your body will react when faced with conflict.

Wrapped up with question and answers. May have missed some things but that was the basics they went over. It was informative, well thought out, and professionally presented.

Deerslayer summed it up fairly well.  While it was interesting, it was not what I expected from it's title.  I would have expected more on mindset and less on the other stuff.  The only real weakness I thought was that the instructor did not address laws on CCW nor what might happen in any detail if you ever drew your gun.  In fact, he made a point to state that as a former secret service officer none of the laws that constrain average citizens apply to him and he does not consider them.  For the majority of us that is not the case, and these laws have a huge bearing on us.
