Good 1911 gunsmith North Jersey

I have a fusion 1911 and the assembly of the upper needs more work than I can do to fit the barrel, bushing, etc.  Is there anyone in norther NJ or reasonably close to that area someone would recommend?  I'd like to get it coated as well.

Check out RTSP they have a good smith and do ceracoating.

Carell's .45 shop in Bangor, PA was recommended to me,  as was Kustom Kraft in Blairstown.  I have not dealt with either, but I have a list of work to do to my Springfield, and I've heard good things about these guys.

I have used Alchemy. Fast, efficient and amazing work. No one in NJ I would recommend for the work, honestly.

Last good 1911 gunsmith in NJ was the late Austin Behlert and he moved his shop to PA. That was many moons ago.

 

Go with the guys Topher recommends. I checked with Garthwaite a few months ago and he is not taking on any new work. Things may have changed. Alchemy is great if they are taking on new projects. I have had stuff done by both outfits and very satisfied all around.

 

Also, look at Gary Natale of Gans Guns in PA. He is a 1911 specialist and his turnaround times are great if he is taking on new work.

Shipped it off in it's entirety to Garthwaite over the weekend.  He had an opening and said he'd get back just after the new year.
