CSB-1powder. Is or had anyone used this powder?

Recommended Posts

Have heard several stories on this. One it is the powder used in RIO shotshells, and MAXAM is the manufacturer.  Seems they are breaking into the US market.  Some reloaders claim to be using Hodgdon Universal load data with similar results.  Also that it comes in larger lots and some internet retailers are breaking it down into smaller containers.  I have enough to get me through for now so I'll wait on it a bit to see what develops.  Hi-Tech Ammunition is supposed to have loading data.

Sorry to hear about poor metering. Seems to be an issue with a lot of powder drops. I have found through the years I prefer ball powder if at all possible.  Try wiping graphite on all the powder drop parts after cleaning with brake clean. Seemed to always work for me over the years. Heard dryer sheets are good also.

I just picked up 10# of the CSB-1 from Hi-Tech.  Reports I have read have been favorable.

I still have 3# of 231 left, and am on mailing lists if 231/HP-38 shows up.

I do intend to give this a try, and may do some experimantal runs to see how it works out in 38, 40, and 45.

Any news or feedback you can share on this powder? How's it metering?
