There are semi MP40s in 9mm. I can't believe they never caught on, they are bad ass. I would buy one if they weren't so expensive and worked. There are still kits out there, somebody should build more in semi.

 

Too bad we can't manufacture new open bolt guns I would settle for a closed bolt semi-auto,

I'm not a fan of semi pistol caliber SMGs. It's just somehow "beneath me." I know that sounds corny and makes no sense. I just feel like 5.56 fits into everything nowadays and anything less sucks, because I have to be prepared for body-armored parachuting Mall Ninjas or something LOL. I like pistol caliber SMG in FA.

 

But the MP-40 is just bad as heck. I grew up in the 70s and it was the premiere weapon of WWII movies. I would take one in semi in a heartbeat. BTW - they are not that expensive in auto, depending on how authentic you want it or C&R.

Real nice transferable one just sold for $13K, I know that sounds like a lot but I tell people to think of it this way...

 

Shoot it, maintain it and it will continue to go up in value.

 

You can never overpay for a FA that's transferable, if you paid too much for it you bought it early and will get that back out of it in the next 10-15 years.

 

No more can be made, what's registered is all that will ever exist (legally )

 

Still I'm digging the M2 carbines I've seen for sale...and the MAC 10 and 11 SMG's ($4-$5K on gunbroker).

It's probably worth pointing out that while getting the MG permit from the State of NJ is next to impossible, you can open up a trust over in PA and have a secure place to store them...the trust owns the NFA weapons so no law enforcement sign off and you can drive over the bridge to shoot them.

Maybe you posted it?? can't remember where I read about the out of state trust, if I can get one property to sell I'll be in the market for a MAC

If you are in a different state you can buy any non-serialized gun part you want (that's legally sold in that state), cash or credit card. Its up to you to comply with local laws when you take them some where else. NJ/PA boarder shops may have store policies but they are not legal issues.

Exactly, fslater, border stores develop a policy that keeps NJ AG at arms length from harassing them with expensive legal non issues.  Drive a half hour into PA and nobody cares.
