Second handgun....1911 or sw 627 PC

Recommended Posts

Hey guys,

Just waiting for my permit. Looking to get my first all metal handgun. I know they are different but curious if anyone has the Smith in south jersey. I'd love to shoot one before I buy.

I've wanted a 1911 for a long time, thinking about the colt Xse government.

So colt xse or sw 627 pc?

I love me some revos. However, I would go for the 1911.

I brought my 9mm revolver and my 9mm 1911 to the range yesterday. The 1911 is just stoopid accurate. It makes me look like a hero.

Good luck with whatever you decide.

Dont be blaming the inaccuracy of shots on the gun.  :nyam:  :nyam:  :nyam:  :nyam:

Simple solution. Get 2 permits.

8 shots of 357 mag, smooth cylinder, 2.65 length barrel.

while a snub nose N-Frame is a pretty bad ass gun, as your *first* revolver - I'd recommend a 4 or 5 inch 627, it'll be more pleasurable to shoot and more "practical" here in NJ as far as CCW laws go.

+1

Cool gun. 4 or 5 inch for a range toy makes more sense to me. I'd opt for a full size 1911 first. Only problem is you might get spoiled by that single action trigger.

627-5 PC is a great all around handgun.  8 round capacity has a "surprise factor" for a revolver if the other guy is counting (same capacity as a 1911), 357 or 38 special.  5 inch barrel and performance center action is phenomenal.  It is great for targets and home defense.  Revolvers also don't jam, stovepipe or FTE. I love mine!!!
