Anyone having issues with their Glock 42?

I went to the range today with a friend so he could break in his new off duty gun, the Glock 42.  We put about 250 rds through it and had numerous failures, of all sorts.  The ammo we were using was good quality, Speer tmj.  In the first 5 mags we had a 50% failure rate in a combination of double feeds and stove pipes.  As we put more rounds downrange it decreased to about one failure per mag, and by the end of the day it was down to about one failure every third mag (mags hold 6 rds).  I didn't count how many of each malfunction but in order to magnitude it was double feeds, stove pipes, failure to go into battery. 

 

Gun was clean, had 0 rds thru it going into today.  My Glock is my least favorite pistol but after several hundred rounds I have had exactly 0 failures with it so this really surprised me.  As you can imagine it also bothered my friend quite a bit who was planning on using it to carry.  He is going to take it to the dept armorer and also run defense ammo thru it to see if that changes anything.

 

Anyone had any issues with theirs?

I have issues with my glock for failing to go into battery. This occurred on my duty gun as well as my personal.

Could be a magazine issue or it just really needs to break in.

 

Have you tried hotter ammo?

I've heard this happening on the original run of the G4's. Glock replaced the recoil spring free of charge: http://us.glock.com/customer-service/recoil-spring-exchange

 

The newer G4's have the new recoil spring. Perhaps your friend has the older one?

I do not own a Glock 42 but I have read of numerous issues with them. I suggest you go read some of the Glock 42 threads on a certain GLOCK only TALK forum.

Thanks, I sent him some links from that forum.  

 

We did not try any other ammo that day as we didn't have any with us.  He was going to head back to the range with his defense ammo and see if that changed anything.  No further range report yet.
