What's out there in revolver rifles?

Recommended Posts

Hi All,

I really want to get my hands on a carbine revolver rifle. I had a chance to look at and hold a Rossi Circuit Judge today. I'm just wondering what else is out there. The Rossi was ok, but for the price I guess I was expecting a better quality fit and finish. The stock was loose, the finish looked beat and the indexer looked like it was made from pot metal. Mind you this was a new gun right out of the box.

So what else is out there that won't cost a small fortune. I'd like to keep it under $1k.

Thanks,

Sam

Nice, I'm guessing made in Italy?

Yes, it's ITRALIAN, lol!  And Nick made a great recommendation.

There's also a Cap and Ball version of this available as a 18" tubed Remington 1858 New Model Army with shoulder stock.  For around a grand you could get BOTH, lol!

Sounds good, although I'd probably stay away from the ball and cap model just out of ease.

Anything else I should look at out there?

^^^Not to my knowledge, unless we chat about originals like the Colt revolving rifle, worth thousands.  Cimmaron imports the Italian replicas, so check them out too.  Rossi revolvers were always a little "rough", so it doesn't take me by surprise that the fit and finish is rough on their revolver carbines.

I have friends who own the Cap and Ball version, so if you ever wanna play with one to see how it works, just look me up!

The only problem I have with the Uberti is the gripping location. Which the JC has an nice advantage as I can hold it like a rifle.

What is a "JC"?  I didn't see any other mention of it so it's out of context.  Please elaborate so I understand you better, and thanks!

I agree I just didnt like the style of the Rossi

I hear yuh, there's two things that keep me from getting the Rossie, the length of the barrel and overall fit and finish. But from a few posts it sounds like the fit and finish aren't as bad as he one I saw which is a plus.
