Candyman87 10 Posted December 18, 2014 So I picked up a 10/22 on Black Friday from Dick's... it was a deal I couldn't pass up. Right now I have it sharing a hard case with my 870, but the hard case doesn't fit under the cargo cover of my Subaru... I have to drop the rear seat to get it to fit, so I've moved my 870 into a Remington soft case. I'm looking for another cheaper case for the 10/22... something a little shorter than the 52" Remington case. But here's the kicker... I need a metal D-ring to lock the zipper to since I drive a hatchback. I'd rather over-secure than under-secure the gun so I don't have any issues. And Cabela's and Midway don't list which soft cases are lockable.

Candyman87 10 Posted December 18, 2014 Why didn't I think to check Ruger's site?! Thank you! I only saw the other one made by Allen that didn't lock. Didn't think they'd have two different 10/22 cases. Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!
mark_anthony_78 0 Posted December 18, 2014 No problem. That looks like a pretty nice case, which I would also get if I ever buy a 10/22 (although the take-down is first on my list and that comes with a backpack).
DeerSlayer 241 Posted December 18, 2014 I have the ruger soft case for mine. It was pretty reasonable and the rifle fits perfectly in it. It's in the picture next to the rifle. Love that case. Also either of my Mini 14's fit in it perfect. BTW it's a long gun no need to lock the case that's only for handguns. Evan Napen explains below
Candyman87 10 Posted December 19, 2014 BTW it's a long gun no need to lock the case that's only for handguns. Evan Napen explains below I always go with better safe than sorry... I have a ton of combination luggage locks all coded the same. I can pop them off in a second, but still explain to a LEO that they're locked up in the trunk. I throw a shotgun on my passenger seat of my pickup in a gun sock with a flat of shell's next to it all the time. Been stopped a few times never had a cop even question me about the gun. They were more concerned with my license plate light that was out. Although I live in Sussex County, so shotguns in pickups are a pretty normal thing around here during hunting season. I would venture to assume in liberal land like Passaic, Essex, union, or Hudson County that traffic stop would seem out of the ordinary to them, and probably go differently. Why I like being a good ol boy, in good ol boy land. Wish the rest of the state was like the northwest three counties. It would be a better place for all of us. I'll transport in a gun sock when I'm headed to PA. But if I'm headed to the range I like to have them in cases with handles so I can carry more than one. That being said, the Ruger case recommended above showed up yesterday and it's a nice case. Pockets are a little weird but I can get two magazines in the little one, and room for some bigger mags once I move to free America.

I have a lot of guns to choose from when I head to the range. My 10/22 is definitely in my top three. Love shooting that rifle.
