johnp 45 Posted December 18, 2014 I was putting together a lower and I can't find the buffer retainer. The few sites that have them in stock want like $10 shipping for a .99 cent part. Does anyone know of any local shops that sell individual AR-15 lower parts? I know Sarco has/had a section in the back of the store with individual parts, but I haven't been there in awhile. Any recommendations?

vjf915 456 Posted December 19, 2014 I messed up the buffer retainer spring once when I was changing out the buffer tube. I couple days later I was at a gun show, and found myself in front of a stand that assembled lowers. I asked if I could give them a couple bucks for one of their buffer retainer springs, and the guy handed me three for free. My suggestion is to try something similar. You don't necessarily have to find someone who sells the parts individually, just find someone who's a gunsmith and ask if you can give them a couple bucks for one. DargZ 5 Posted December 19, 2014 Sarco definitely has them in stock. You can go thru all the bins and find all the little parts you need. I was missing the dust cover spring and c-clip. Picked up the parts along the way to my in-laws place in PA but you have to rifle thru all the little bins. Fortunately, the guys were able to find the necessary parts quickly for me. I would also suggest picking up a spare parts bag of all the little springs and what not. I forget how many springs I've bent or lost when disassembling.
