lycokayaker 1 Posted December 19, 2014 Was thinking about adding a new shotgun to the safe and was looking at the Mossberg Magpul shotguns. Anyone have one tried one? Looking for any feedback thoughts on these guys....
vjf915 456 Posted December 19, 2014 I have shot an 870 with the Magpul furniture on it, and fondled several others (shotguns) that had the Magpul furniture. Close enough for the purposes of answering your question. It is surprisingly, and noticeably, more comfortable to shoulder than the factory stocks. The downside is that it turns an affordable pump shotgun into a quite expensive pump shotgun. My suggestion would be to buy the shotgun itself first. If you later find that you shoot it enough to justify spending an extra ~$115 on it, then you can jump on it.
checko 180 Posted December 19, 2014 I assume you meant the 590a1. I have a 20" version with ghost rings and a speed feed stock. I will say one thing, the thing feels like it was built out of black iron pipe. If you ever run out of shells you can cave someones skull in with it. Solid construction and it will last damn near forever.
Earlswagger 13 Posted December 19, 2014 Checko nailed it. I own one as well. It's a tank. But I went with it as I really felt it will do everything forever. I could probably wedge it and lift my car to change a tire... Prolly not, but you get the idea.
Screwball 483 Posted December 19, 2014 I have the Magpul furniture on my 870 Police... really love it, and it is my bed gun. Length of pull is great to adjust, and cheek height makes it so much easier to get lined up with the sights. Having Remington rifle sights, I never had good luck with standard stocks, as it seems a bit low (bead sights... good to go). I would probably do the same with a Mossberg if I was setting it up similarly. I do have a 500, JIC2 with the bag. I put Hogue rubber pistol grip and forend on that, being I wanted a short overall length.
lycokayaker 1 Posted December 19, 2014 Thanks for the feedback on the shotgun, Now I just have to find a dealer selling one and at a reasonable price.
MartyZ 692 Posted December 19, 2014 I have a 590 SP with magpul furniture and I love it. The stock also makes it very comfortable to reach the action release. I think the only difference between the A1 and the SP is the barrel thickness
