Anyone have NICS trouble today? 12.22.14

Recommended Posts

So the shop called me. They needed a copy of my FID to send down to NICS. They had something wrong in their system in regards to my SBI #. All is fixed and I've been approved. So this was an individual problem, not an overall NICS delay. I can pick it up tomorrow.

That's great news :)

When NJ's stupid FID law was passed back in 68 I guess my dad did his civic duty and applied and received his card.  Never used it until I wanted a competition pellet gun while in High School.  Yes back then my HS had a rifle team.  Anyway, he was detained by the Paramus PD for attempted purchase of a firearm with a forged card.  Seems the originals were green in color and the issuing department never put his SBI number on the card.  Clerk at Ramsey Outdoor freaked and called the POPO.  They called the issuing PD and released him.   He swore he would never use it again and never did.

Another NJ screw up, how could they forget to write the SBI number on it? I can't blame him I wouldn't buy anything ever again after an experience like that

Wow, crazy story. I guess I can't complain about my experience after reading that!

Great story to tell, but not to live through!

Picked it up today and gave it to my wife soon after. She liked it but is a little hesitant, which is good. It means she understands the responsibility that comes along with owning a firearm. Will try to take her to the range as soon as the kids are no longer sick and see how she fairs. If not well, I'll have a S&W Bodyguard with Crimson Laser up for sale!

Happy Holidays everyone.

Kevin
