Norseman 2 Posted December 26, 2014 Anyone looking to find a new home for their AR? I'm looking to purchase one soon. I'm gonna try and get to Howell today and see if they have anything for Lefties. I have my FID, matching DL and all. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rob0115 1,105 Posted December 26, 2014 I know that Stag makes a lefty AR. I saw one at Ottomanelli's a couple of weeks ago but it's gone. Call around or do a price request to see if anyone has one.
Norseman 2 Posted December 26, 2014 Thanks Rob ...I'm looking around and posting on other forums and Facebook pages. Just looking to see if anyone has anything used that might save me a couple bucks. This'll be my first so hopefully I can get one that's more affordable. Then when I know for sure what I want I'll spend a little more (that's my plan anyway lol) Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Rob0115 1,105 Posted December 26, 2014 OK--I wasn't sure. The Stags are pretty reasonably priced, but I don't know what you budget is. Check AR15.com as well they have a ton of used ARs in the classifieds section.

High Exposure 5,662 Posted December 26, 2014 Why do you want a Lefty AR? I have seen many, lefty rifle shooters. I have seen them as instructors, as students in classes I taught, and in classes where I was a student. All but 6 (all students) ran a standard AR w/out ambi controls and ran them like a striped ass ape. The other 6 started a 2 or 3 day carbine course with Stag Lefty models. All 6 shooters finished these courses with standard AR models. In my line of work, that is a clue.
Oleg 8 Posted December 26, 2014 I have m&p 15-22 and I am left eyed/right handed. Maybe I need some advice or more training, but operation of rifle is very uncomfortable and cumbersome. I tried it on the right side just for test and it worked out much better - everything is more or less in the right places. I am not interested at the moment in AR but I really liked rifle with side charging upper in recent hickok45 video. When I get into AR it is something I most definitely will be looking for - lefty with side charging upper. Why do you want a Lefty AR?I have seen many, lefty rifle shooters. High Exposure 5,662 Posted December 26, 2014 Train more I can run a rifle decently lefty. But I practice it. I think it's fun. In fact, I like the way a lefty runs the safety on a standard rifle better. I even put an ambi safety on one AR just so I can run the safety the same way with my right hand. I am right hand dominant and run a rifle better righty than lefty. But I spend maybe 15% of my training lefty and 85% righty. If I switched that, I would probably be better lefty than righty. Either way, it doesn't require a left hand specific model to be proficient with either hand on the AR platform.

njJoniGuy 2,131 Posted December 27, 2014 The Stag left-hand ARs are great! Esp the model 6L I shoot HighPower matches (out to 600yd) with mine and to be able to keep the rifle shouldered in slow prone and drop your next round into the eject port with the trigger hand makes a world of difference from the way it is using a standard righty AR as a southpaw. I have ambi safety selectors on all my ARs (the rest of which are all righty), along with Norgon ambi mag releases on them all. I've got almost 10k documented rounds on my 24" barrel and as soon as I finish a customer's job which is on my bench, I'm going to replace the barrel with one I bought from Stag for that purpose. The groups are starting to open up at 300 and 600yd, but its still a tack driver at 100 and 200 eta I've heard that the Rock River lefties use Stag bolts and carriers (which are mirror images of right-handed parts)
Norseman 2 Posted December 27, 2014 My absolute main reason for wanting a lefty AR is whenever I shoot standard models I've had experiences where the exhaust goes up my nose. After 100-200 rounds it kind of nauseates me. Weird because when shooting handguns I love that smell. That being said I like guns where the standard controls are either ambi or lefty. I'm a full on southpaw and even though I CAN shoot righty guns just fine, I prefer lefty.

Is it the ammo you are using? I see people using "gas busters" for suppressor use, but that is a different issue. I fire FA suppressed and get nothing. Ever. One of my older friends fired one shot and said he got a shot of smoke in the eye. I guess gas is in the eye of the beholder My Max-11 will gas me suppressed without the proper guards in place, but that's not an AR of course.
Old School 611 Posted December 27, 2014 I'm pretty much with HE. My wife is left eye dominant and shoots an AR lefty. No problem! BTW she was career military, did it for 20+ years. All rightey rifles. Here's something for you to think about... If SHTF and you had to pick up a rifle in the street and use it. Would you be able to competently use a right handed rifle? Hey I hate AKs, don't own any, but, this doesn't mean I'm not competent with one. Train right handed and forget the lefty crap. You'll be a better survivor. Norseman 2 Posted December 27, 2014 Yes for the record - I CAN and DO shoot righty weapons alllll the time. And God forbid SHTF I can pickup and operate a righty weapon. But I definitely appreciate guys pointing that out. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

varna 9 Posted January 14, 2015 I have been shooting right handed guns (auto's, pumps, single's, doubles) left handed since my dad figured out I was left eye dominant (but I am right handed everything else) That was over 40 years ago. Actually, I have never shot a "lefty" gun ever. I can shoot righty if I have to and sometimes when hunting deer it was my only option so I did. It is very uncomfortable and I'm much better if I have a rest, tree, or knee to stable the gun on. I also completely agree with High Exposure about the safety. My hand is wrapped around the whole trigger assembly preventing anything from even touching the trigger. I just "push" the safe with my middle finger when bringing the gun to my shoulder. Kinda wonder why that isn't the standard anyway. I have never had an issue with anything.... ever. As far as "learn to shoot right handed".......... I can't even imagine that being an option
Bushmaster1313 61 Posted January 16, 2015 DPMS LR308 right hand without the shell deflector used to hit me in the face every round. Do you think it held a grudge against me because I'm a lefty?
