What's the best way to get a red dot on an SKS?

Recommended Posts

I almost shat myself in laughter when I found that pic

The only rifle in that picture that deserves optics is that 91/30 PU sniper. The rest of the pile is like putting a big wing/rear spoiler and a set of rims, on a 2001 4 door Toyota Corolla lol...

hells nooooooooo!

Figured I would give the benefit of the doubt and if they were yours, I would assume that you had just left a show and got an awesome deal on them. And that was the before picture, to be followed by the after picture of you putting everything back to normal lol. Someone needs to save those rifles from their abusive environment. Is there an equivalent of child protective services we could send to the owner of that pictures home? They could remove them and place them into homes of people that appreciate fine Russian arms, like foster parents lol...

I would say the scout mount is the only way to go. It lets you still use your irons. I don't know if you can co witness with it but if you can def do that as well. Its an easy and non perm install.

How the hell would you co-witness when the scope is sitting ABOVE the rear sight?

Sometimes the answer is just "no". It isn't that somehow converting an SKS is some crime against the spirit of Simonov and he'll wake up the ghosts of  Browning, Kalashnikov, and Stoner and come rearrange the magnetic letter on your fridge until you take the mods off, its just that sometimes the hacks aren't worth doing. When you are buying a $200 rifle, maybe the best idea is to NOT spend hundreds on mods, but spend it on ammo and save more money for a rifle designed to accept optics.

Just a thought.
