Practical Home Defense Strategy instructor

Recommended Posts

My club is looking to have a one time class for our community to go over best strategies to defend against home invasion. To cover practical tips for people with/without firearms, legal aspects, prevention, weapons choices, etc. Would have to be one evening in North Jersey, multi-media presentation would be best. Any suggestions?

I have been asked to run a class to prepare people for carrying a defensive firearm by my home range, Phillipsburg Pistol club.
It will be held on August 6th, from noon until approx. 4pm.
We will cover safe use of a holster and a number of defensive shooting techniques.
The class will finish with running each student through HQC1 and a certificate will be provided for those that achieve a passing score.
It is open to all, but members of Phillipsburg Pistol Club will have spots reserved for them.

I'm running my Intro to IDPA class next month.
There's quite a few on this forum that have done it and they seemed to like it. If you want an easy way to transition from a static port to shooting on the move consider this class.
Read the details and sign up here: http://idpa-intro.eventbrite.com/

I'm looking at running my IDPA Intro class a couple of times this year.
I'm trying to create a bit of separation between the classes and to run on different days of the week to accommodate those that have regular commitments on a schedule.
I have booked the range for August 29 which is a Saturday.
I also wanted to run it on Saturday, June 7 but the range is not available that day.
Is there any interest in a class on a weekday in June?
      Please let me know.

So I've got my FID and am looking to purchase a replica MP40 airgun for target practice. This is the gun in question I'm particularly looking at https://www.pyramydair.com/s/m/Umarex_Legends_MP40_CO2_BB_Submachine_Gun/4312
The gun itself is capable of full auto firing at roughly 450fps. It also includes a 52rd pellet mag. I've read up on the airgun laws and know that airguns are considered firearms under NJ state law, so does that mean every firearm law applies to airguns also or are there exceptions to them where you can purchase any airgun as long as you have an FID?
      Thanks

      Hi all.
This is my first time posting in the forum. After having searched through both this forum and the inner-webs, in general for information pertaining to the legality of this this particular stock, I have seemingly gotten nowhere, so I figured I'd post/ask about it here.
The stock in question is the Strike Industries Viper Modular Fixed Stock and I am trying to find out if it would count as having one of the "offending features" within the state of NJ?

The stock definitely does not fold, and it does not appear to qualify as telescoping under the traditional sense. The length of pull IS adjustable by means of spacers inserted between the castle nut and the actual stock, BUT the adding/removing of these spacers requires using a hex wrench to completely disassemble the stock first.
      My questions are:
Do any of you currently have/use this particular stock here in the State of NJ?
Do you think this stock would qualify as one of NJ's offending features, or at least look "different-enough" to put one under risk of enhanced scrutiny and possible arrest if one had it on their AR-15?
I had one gunsmith tell me that stocks must be permanently pinned (not true, since the only thing I recall as needing to be permanent is the muzzle brake) and I also had a representative from U.S. Law Shield tell me that he "Didn't think it would count as an offending feature, but in the State of NJ who knows?"
      Looking forward to the replies.

    • I've watched a lot of "Mighty Ships" series on TV, as well as cruise ship series. It seems prevalent for large ships to have GPS tracking, and possibly guidance. So the path of this ship should be on record somewhere. And one critical fact would be whether or not as the ship approached the bridge it followed the correct path in the harbor channel. The conspiracy aspect would ask was  one of the electronic guidance/navigation systems hacked to put it on a collision course? I'm not anxious to find a terrorist attack. But if you'd asked me on September 10, 2001 what were the odds of four hijacked aircraft being successfully flown by amateurs into three iconic American structures... I will say there's not a doubt in my mind there are nasty people that crossed the border to cause trouble. I just can't be certain how, and how much.
    • It's been reported now that there were two harbor pilots on board and 21 crewmen. The article mentions that there were no cars on the bridge when it collapsed.   Actually, divers found two people trapped in their car.  They were recovered Tuesday afternoon.
    • My CDefense has a way different bullet profile / ogive than my CDuty..............easy to tell apart.
