kurtinnj 9 Posted January 11, 2015 Just to let you all know. I applied and received my first (well 2 ) pistol permits from Rockaway Borough, Morris County in 25 days. Not bad at all. Thanks to the Rockaway Police Department.
gfl216 226 Posted January 11, 2015 Your lucky, my town usually takes 6 to 8 months. When I first moved here 13 yrs ago it took 9 months just for an address change on my ID card.
InFamous 311 Posted January 11, 2015 Not too bad, my initial FID and permit was about 3 weeks with Mt. Olive...so I'd figure a bit less for just a permit. Pretty close. I know a few Rockaway police and they are all great people. IDK their stance on 2A but 25 days seems decent.

gleninjersey 2,141 Posted January 13, 2015 Not sure yet. No plans, just wanted to see how long it would take. I have to do my homework before I buy. Congrats on getting your permits! You should start a thread under the Handgun or New Firearm Owners sections. Tell us a little about what you'll be using your guns for, what your considering purchasing, etc. You'll get LOTS of feedback.

RobertJames 14 Posted January 17, 2015 I dropped off application for 5 permits yesterday, NJSP Augusta barracks. I was very surprised, I've heard horror stories of playing phone tag, weeks if not months just to get an appointment to pick up the forms, and then more of the same to drop off the forms. I got the Sergeant who handles the firearms paperwork on the first call, he was very accommodating of my schedule, and a very pleasant person to deal with. When I dropped off my application, again, very nice to deal with. The Captain or Lieutenant of the barracks introduced himself, saying that I looked familiar to him. *Gulp* My mind began racing through all the childish indiscretions of my youth. It turns out that we live in the same town and he had seen me in passing at town functions. The conversation turned to what I would be purchasing. When I mentioned that I would be adding another 1911 to the collection, both of their eyes lit up and expressed their fondness for the pistol. Several more minutes of pleasantries and I was on my way. All in all, for what it was, not a bad experience. The down side was that I had to go there at all and I was about a half hour late to work. Fortunately I have a flexible boss. But the two troopers I met with made the best of the situation.
