CageFighter 236 Posted January 12, 2015 OK guys, since my PSL idea was just ditched, ,any thoughts on this AK? Any feedback from Definitive Arms? I was looking at this over the Krebs Custom 103K-S. Since the Krebs AK103k-S is a side folder, I cant seem to find one in the fixed stock. Im not really looking to pin a side folder. Its mentioned that Def Arms is in the same league as Krebs or Rifle Dynamics, but I dont seem to recall their name recognition. Anyone have experience with their rifles or quality of their builds? The videos attached from Atlantic Firearms seem like a copy of work done by Krebs. https://www.coppercustom.com/shop/definitive-arms-rifles/definitive-arms-ak103u/ here is Atlantic Firearms http://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/definitive-arms-ak103u-ak47-7-62x39mm-rifl-detail.html?Itemid=0 pricing was $1329

Njbanshee 9 Posted January 12, 2015 I think you can find a much better deal on a much better rifle.
carl_g 568 Posted January 12, 2015 I paid 450 for my saiga and then 300 or so on surplus parts to finish my build.. so yeah 1300 is a lot.
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted January 12, 2015 I can get you the same rifle (only with a slant break in place of that FH) for $660.00 NJ Compliant Two 15/30 mags
Ian S 22 Posted January 12, 2015 I would have thought the -74 style muzzle brake would be good to go. I like slant brakes better, but the one in the OP links is not a FH.
CageFighter 236 Posted January 12, 2015 i want the barrel chopped, the front sight @ the end of the gas tube & the muzzlebrake pinned. EXACTLY like the ones in the pic. who can help me? i found a saiga in the $550 range if needed. any other options? maybe build a 14.7" barrel VEPR? haha! DevsAdvocate 112 Posted January 18, 2015 Is there a way to get this rifle for cheaper with the same brake?
CageFighter 236 Posted January 19, 2015 problem is the barrel needs to be removed, cut n re-welded. FSB gets butted up to gas block, then brake attached.
Njbanshee 9 Posted January 21, 2015 I don't think that would be all that hard to do. Get whatever rifle floats your boat, cut the barrel, thread the barrel (I have a thread cutter if needed), have the barrel re crowned, slide the front sight all the way back and with a vise and drill press you can make the grooves for the pins. I think it could all be done pretty easily and quickly. The only part I would farm out is the recrowning of the barrel.
carl_g 568 Posted January 21, 2015 The brake screws onto the fsb and since you are cutting the barrel I assume it will end up to be less than 16 inches. So in order to comply with NFA you would need to weld the fsb to the barrel and pin and weld the brake to the fsb..
Njbanshee 9 Posted January 21, 2015 To achieve the "look" I think the brake can be threaded to the barrel.
carl_g 568 Posted January 21, 2015 To achieve the "look" I think the brake can be threaded to the barrel.Good point. That could work if you can get the correct akm fsb.
JT Custom Guns 956 Posted January 23, 2015 If you're going to cut a barrel - make sure don't get a Chrome lined bbl.
Kimber45 3 Posted February 15, 2015 Thats what I have planned for my Npap. Just going with a Lantic Drakon brake instead....
