notmetoo 41 Posted January 28, 2015 I've seen these handguards around and love them. Time for me to build a new AR just so I can incorporate one of these! But which one.... Oh, heck maybe I'll build more than one. http://thebrigade.com/2015/01/27/unique-ar-has-some-impressive-handguards-20-photos/

Vlad G 345 Posted January 28, 2015 I'm strangely ok with it. As long as the cuts reduce weight, improve cooling, and don't reduce functionality then why not make them look more interesting? The CnC machine doesn't really care so why the hell not? My AR's don't have to go to war in a organized military where everything needs to be interchangeable and uniform. Vlad G 345 Posted January 28, 2015 most all metal handguards I have had experience with get pretty hot under any reasonable amount of sustained rapid fire.. I'd argue that sustained rapid fire that make your hand guards hot is not reasonable given the AR sustained rate of fire is ... 12-15 rd per minute? But I'm nitpicking on sustained, I have shot my AR hot enough to be uncomfortable with metal or CF, but that meant 60+ rounds in under 2min which usually is not something I'd consider reasonable sustained. sosa9999 5 Posted January 28, 2015 I saw a video of them from shot show 2014 and order mine a few weeks afterwards. Didn't care about weight cause it stays on the bench. Also as for heat, I don't do rapid fire it. So in my case the rifle shoots MOA and looks great.

ronhonda 86 Posted January 28, 2015 #12 & #13 look nice. But I want a handguard that fits my hand well and somewhat light. Besides CF I like the diamond head handguard.

If you do that regularly you will destroy your barrel rapidly for no good reason.
RobertJames 14 Posted January 29, 2015 Skulls and flames, will accessorize well with a Hardly Davidson. In all seriousness, for an accurate assessment of these products I'll need to see detailed photos of the blond in the sixth photo.

Vlad G 345 Posted January 29, 2015 wouldn't the reason be, cause it's fun? I suppose, to me just burning ammo fast enough to burn out the barrel is the equivalent of ballistic masturbation. It can be fun .. but .. And I say that as someone who tries to shoot his rifle pretty fast in competitions.

Dan 177 Posted February 5, 2015 I like the idea of these handguards. As long as its functional, why not add some style. Sure its not something one would typically use for any type of official duty in most cases, but for a civilian AR why not. There's no rule that your rifle has to be EBR black and use utilitarian military-esque parts in order to be in the cool club. Personally, I would like a smaller diameter tube on my 5.56 rifles, but I may consider one of these for my future 7.62 AR build.

mipafox 438 Posted February 6, 2015 Do they have one that says "Mall Ninja"? Thread winner! That's good, because no amount of ammo fired in two minutes is sustained fire. As for 3 30 round mags, I'll fire 4 back to back in auto (under a minute), and I do BETA dumps all the time. It only hurt one barrel I own and that was a crappy one. Still perfectly accurate after about 3000 rounds of 90% BETA dumps, just eroded the gas port a bit. Did numerous 2 back to back BETAs on that barrel but that does get things glowing a little. If you don't like hot handguards then get a VFG, problem solved.
