Albanian 121 Posted January 28, 2015 Okay so I know I need two CoEs, one for me and one for the buyer. I need to make sure the buyer has an FID with a DL to make sure the names match and the address just for extra security and obviously make sure they are an NJ resident. However I am just wondering, I can sell this wherever we decide to meet? It doesn't have to be a gun range or gun shop? NJ's law about travel allows for traveling to and from a meeting for the transaction? Thanks.
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted January 28, 2015 Yes I've done it in parking lots, houses, etc.

Krdshrk 3,877 Posted January 28, 2015 Just not in school parking lot
jackandjill 683 Posted January 28, 2015 Assuming both has FPID and doesn't meet in prohibited areas, school grounds etc. Common sense also suggests not to lift the evil ARs into air for inspection. :-) Day time, open area, check stuff in the trunk. Be aware of private property. But a range would be ideal if you can do.
rightisright 3 Posted January 28, 2015 I prefer to do the exchange at either of our houses or in a range parking lot. Sure, you could do it in the local Shoprite lot, but keep in mind, this is NJ. If Lauren Soccermom spots the gun, you can be sure she is calling the popo.
AverageJoe 95 Posted January 28, 2015 Just not in school parking lot Was thinking the same thing...please exercise a lil common sense here.
ogfarmer 138 Posted January 28, 2015 Harbor Freight in Greenbrook was kind enough to provide me with their parking lot earlier today.

DeerSlayer 241 Posted January 28, 2015 I always try to make the transaction at a somewhat safe location. Especially if I don't know the buyer personally. A range is always a good choice. Or a private business parking lot that you may know the owners of with permission to conduct the transaction prior to setting that spot for the transaction location. That's what I try to do most times. Have done them at home before as well. But if I do you bet I'm armed during the transaction.
The_Matrix 105 Posted January 29, 2015 Just not in school parking lot Or in a parking lot of a bank.

Newtonian 453 Posted January 29, 2015 The long gun, unloaded, makes the transportation issue moot correct?
Krdshrk 3,877 Posted January 29, 2015 The long gun, unloaded, makes the transportation issue moot correct? If you have your FID on you, which of course, you should while doing the transaction, yes.

NJ's law about travel allows for traveling to and from a meeting for the transaction? Thanks. You could travel to Readington Airport, jump into a Hot Air Balloon, and as long as you were still in NJ airspace, the transaction would be legal, provided the standard paperwork and ID info is part of the transaction. Just wait till yer up a few thousand feet before ya start inspecting the rifle or scattergun, so this way Susie Soccermom doesn't see ya and call the PoPo, lol! And if ya like, have the Pilot fly right over the damn school property a few thousand feet overhead, since the rule is "within a thousand feet" of a school, lol! Just don't fly over Joint Base McGuire & try this, lol! Don't wanna scramble any jets for your attempted invasion of the Pine Barrens!
Sandy 44 Posted January 30, 2015 There was a guy here in town a few years ago that caused a lockdown and manhunt just because he was parked a few blocks away from his house and walked his long gun to his car in plain sight lol . He was packing for hunting. Even though he was within the law , I believe at the end of the day he did get slapped with a "disturbing the peace " or something dumb. The short answer is , anywhere that is not specifically prohibited like a school , and be discreet unless you're bored and welcome the attention . DeerSlayer 241 Posted January 31, 2015 The short answer is "Yes!" The long answer is "As long as it's a Dunkin Donuts parking lot."I need to learn not to read any of your posts while consuming beverages. The result is often an ejection of that beverage, from my nose soaking my phone due to excessive laughter. You owe me a roll of paper towels! Small price to pay for having a sense of humor Angelo...
