Mina1227 0 Posted February 17, 2015 I'm looking for an AR-15 scope that doesn't reply on batteries. Not a sniper scope, but a short/small scope that has a permanent dot or a crosshair. This is my first ar15 and I can't find anything online. Any recommendations? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
checko 180 Posted February 17, 2015 I'm a little confused to what you want. Are you looking for a magnified optic or something like a red dot? Are you shooting at distance or fairly close? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Mina1227 0 Posted February 17, 2015 Not magnified and also not looking for a scope that replies on batteries. I'm shooting very close range. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
checko 180 Posted February 17, 2015 Don't know if it's in your price range but the trijicon reflex sights come to mind. https://www.trijicon.com/na_en/products/product1.php?id=Reflex Otherwise just use irons? Why are you against batteries? Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Mina1227 0 Posted February 17, 2015 I'm not against batteries. I just purchased the UTG red dot scope. But I was just wondering if there anything of such available. I used my friends helographic sights before and it was a little fuzzy. Maybe because it was cheap stuff. $500 is way too much for me. I was looking for $50-$150. High Exposure 5,671 Posted February 17, 2015 You get what you pay for. Aimpoint Pro - < $400. Runs 50,000 hours on one battery. It's probably the best value (not cheapest cost, huuuuuge sifference) you will get in an optic.
checko 180 Posted February 18, 2015 I'd probably go with a primary arms type optic or a vortex in that range. Not much else of decent quality I've tried Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk
Spurgeon 0 Posted February 18, 2015 You might want to take a look at the Barska 1-4X28 swat-ar riflescope. The crosshairs are etched in. You can use the illuminated reticle as a red dot. Cost is $109 (free shipping) from www.BandH.com
Shane45 807 Posted February 18, 2015 The only one that comes to mind is the Leupold Prismatic. It is a non magnified, permanently etched reticle.
High Exposure 5,671 Posted February 18, 2015 Yeah, but it's almost $700!
Mina1227 0 Posted February 18, 2015 Thanks for the website. The closest one I can find to what I'm looking for is this one in the picture below. I just wish there is a shorter one available. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Shane45 807 Posted February 18, 2015 If Im not mistaken they are sub 500 these days. And I would take 1 Prismatic over a case of Barska's

Mina1227 0 Posted February 18, 2015 I didn't say I would buy that one. I said it is the closest to what I'm looking for. Would you recommend this one? https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0091WHAPG/ref=cm_sw_r_awd_RGm5ub1BB96AP Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Vlad G 345 Posted February 18, 2015 Here is a hint, if your scope has "rails" on it is is probably garbage. If you are looking at spending less then $150 on a optic, the only thing I would recommend is one of the PA micros's: https://www.primaryarms.com/category_s/5695.htm Yes they use batteries but the cheap PA micro's are less the $100 and for $50 you can buy a lifetime supply of CR 2032's (and they are lithium so they last a LONG time). If you buy their new $170 red dot with the 50k hour battery life odds are you will never have to buy a second battery. You can NOT purchase a quality scope for $150 unless you end up with some awesome deal on a used one. Don't even try, you will end up with garbage and you might as well give me your money and I'll stand behind you yelling BANG while you hold the rifle and telling you what a great shot that was. That way you will save on ammo as well.
Vlad G 345 Posted February 18, 2015 Hell , you know what .. spend that $150 on good iron sights. They last forever with no batteries and at close range you won't lose anything.
JonF 79 Posted February 18, 2015 Perhaps the Primary Arms 1-4x. Its a simple duplex crosshair/dot hybrid that may give you the simplicity you desire at the price point you want. Although its 1-4x, you can leave it at 1x (no magnification) if thats what you generally prefer. Then wick it up to 4x on occasion if you find yourself at any long range. Its also illuminated but thats optional and you never have to turn it on or have it on for the scope to function with the basic black etched reticle. https://www.primaryarms.com/Primary_Arms_1_4X_24_Illuminated_Scope_PA14X_p/pa14x.htm

DeerSlayer 241 Posted February 18, 2015 @Checko That may be too much for less than 25 yards or so you're correct.

DeerSlayer 241 Posted February 18, 2015 I'm a little confused. Sent from my SM-G900V using Tapatalk I'm saying if you're shooting at less than 25 yards, "very close range" your right that scope isn't going to work well.
