szebrows 0 Posted March 23, 2015 My parents have a house in NJ that I live at and have my firearms at. I recently got an apartment in PA for work. I live at the apartment Mon.-Fri., then the NJ location Fri.-Sun. I am thinking of switching my driver's license and all to PA as well as the address on my NJ FID card. If I do this, can I still keep my firearms at the NJ address, and transport them to a NJ range and back?

JT Custom Guns 956 Posted March 23, 2015 You can have dual residency and keep your NJ FID card with the NJ address..............
szebrows 0 Posted March 23, 2015 If I switch my license to PA, I will still have dual residency? PA gun stores seem afraid to deal with people who have NJ licenses. The one I was in said that I could only buy stuff that was NJ legal and that they would have to ship it to a NJ FFL since I didn't have a PA license. But you are from New Jersey, and they get to set their own policies. You need to call around more and find some that will listen and understand you can prove you have Pa residency, which should be pretty easy since you rent an apartment. Or, for rifles, shotguns, silencers, and machineguns (everything except small guns like handgun/SBR/SBS/AOW) you can tell the FFLs to go F themselves and just do a private face to face purchases while you are legally residing at your PA residence. Jfoster99 80 Posted March 24, 2015 You can technically buy hand guns in either state also. The hard part is finding a NJ FFL to sell you one without a NJ drivers Lic. Not illegal, they just won't do it. I run with a Florida drivers Lic and a NJ boaters lic. Looks just like a drivers Lic. I accidentally handed the boat Lic to enterprise car rental and they rented me a car with a boat Lic. Too funny. It is like a non-driver ID which you can not get from NJ while in possession of a PA Lic. But the boat Lic is the same thing virtually.

Stores are afraid to sell "assault weapons" in PA to NJ residents, while it's all legal most refuse...you could bring a copy of the lease/rental agreement and see if they will sell to you with a NJ license.
