Keffak 0 Posted March 23, 2015 I was shopping for a Glock 17 down at Shooters today and they do block 17 mags to 15rds. They also sell them separately for $34.99 each.
Old School 611 Posted March 23, 2015 Guess you'll never be able to disassemble and clean those mags..
louu 399 Posted March 23, 2015 Thats a rip off man. Just buy your own factory mags for $21 and block them yourself with these http://www.magazineblocks.com/magento/glock-17-magblock-15-17-15-round-limiter.html It glues on the bottom of the follower so you can still take them apart to clean them. Or make your own similar style block.

This is a monitored public forum. And epoxy is the only way to go. Make sure it's permanent.

So unless you're permanently modifying the baseplate so that it can't be removed, it's a felony.
Old School 611 Posted March 24, 2015 I don't know how accurate that is. Doesn't sound like it's in statute like that. Has there been an official interpretation that leads you to that conclusion ? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk No, not an official interpretation. Only what I've been told by those doing the retail blocking. It was my understanding that it is the reasoning for why they are all riveted and/or roll pinned.
coldsolderjoint 84 Posted March 24, 2015 Paul's ar mags have a removable baseplate, as do hex mags.
PK90 3,570 Posted March 24, 2015 I'll just leave this here AGAIN for you guys to debate AGAIN. There is the letter of the law, the application of the law, and the practice of the law. DISCUSS. The definition law that NJ residents must follow: "Large capacity ammunition magazine" means a box, drum, tube or other container which is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm. The definition rule that NJ dealers must follow: "Large capacity ammunition magazine" means a box, drum, tube or other container, which is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm. A large capacity ammunition magazine that has been permanently altered so that it is not capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition will cease to be defined as a "large capacity ammunition magazine." An ammunition magazine, which has been temporarily blocked or modified from holding more than 15 rounds, as by a piece of wood or a pin, is still considered to be a "large capacity ammunition magazine." Keffak 0 Posted March 25, 2015 These are pop riveted and glued. Yes you won"t be able to clean them, but how often does that need to be done really? Also to note...using the Up Lula loader I can only get 14rds in, still better than running 10 rounders I suppose.
A-Tech 8 Posted March 25, 2015 I haven't cleaned my G17 mags since.....ever. So, about 5,000 rds fired total, and about 1,000 of those fired at IDPA. I don't need no stinkin cleen maguhzeens.
DSD1026 48 Posted March 25, 2015 I'll just leave this here AGAIN for you guys to debate AGAIN. There is the letter of the law, the application of the law, and the practice of the law. DISCUSS. Not really a debate to most. This one is pretty cut & dry, unlike most NJ gun laws. Not to mention most online retailers (if you are purchasing them online) will not ship magazines larger than 15 rounds into NJ. Its not paranoia, it's the law (as stupid as the law is). BillC. 26 Posted March 25, 2015 Glock used to have a free mag block available for the asking to convert M17 to 15rn NJ compliant. I got mine at Lawman supply the last time I needed them, BUT that was a long time ago. You might ask Glock if they are still available.
