Blocked Glock 17 Magazines

Recommended Posts

Thats a rip off man. Just buy your own factory mags for $21 and block them yourself with these

It glues on the bottom of the follower so you can still take them apart to clean them.

Or make your own similar style block.

One would have to complete your method outside of NJ state lines in order to remain legal.

Stop with the paranoia! All of you! There is no FBI swat team waiting for you at the bottom of the bridge checking all your mags.

No serious what CSJ said. This is a monitored public forum. And epoxy is the only way to go.

Make sure it's permanent.

If you can take the magazine apart and replace the follower/spring to reverse the modification to allow more than 15rds, it is illegal to posses in NJ. So unless you're permanently modifying the baseplate so that it can't be removed, it's a felony.

I don't know how accurate that is. Doesn't sound like it's in statute like that. Has there been an official interpretation that leads you to that conclusion ?

No, not an official interpretation. Only what I've been told by those doing the retail blocking. It was my understanding that it is the reasoning for why they are all riveted and/or roll pinned.

I'll just leave this here AGAIN for you guys to debate AGAIN. There is the letter of the law, the application of the law, and the practice of the law. DISCUSS.

The definition law that NJ residents must follow:

"Large capacity ammunition magazine" means a box, drum, tube or other container which is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm.

The definition rule that NJ dealers must follow:

"Large capacity ammunition magazine" means a box, drum, tube or other container, which is capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition to be fed continuously and directly therefrom into a semi-automatic firearm. A large capacity ammunition magazine that has been permanently altered so that it is not capable of holding more than 15 rounds of ammunition will cease to be defined as a "large capacity ammunition magazine." An ammunition magazine, which has been temporarily blocked or modified from holding more than 15 rounds, as by a piece of wood or a pin, is still considered to be a "large capacity ammunition magazine."

These are pop riveted and glued. Yes you won"t be able to clean them, but how often does that need to be done really?

Also to note...using the Up Lula loader I can only get 14rds in, still better than running 10 rounders I suppose.

Not really a debate to most.  This one is pretty cut & dry, unlike most NJ gun laws.

Not to mention most online retailers (if you are purchasing them online) will not ship magazines larger than 15 rounds into NJ.

Its not paranoia, it's the law (as stupid as the law is).
