owadj01 0 Posted April 1, 2015 And I know 2C:39-1.R (4) seems to cover stun guns and pepper spray etc. I make the connection that a prohibited device (HP in the case) is a weapon.
jackandjill 683 Posted April 1, 2015 OP is complaining about PA folks not knowing NJ laws ? How about this for a kicker.. I just got an email from NJSP Firearms Unit Head (thats what the signature said), saying 2C:39-6 (Exemptions) apply to people with FPID. According to the Unit Head, all firearms must be transported according to 2C:39-6-g regardless if you have FPID or not, long guns or not. I called and he insisted that only legal way to transport for general public (even with FPID) is as described in 2C:39-6(g). PS: I wasnt trying to show off anything, my inquiry was a genuine scenario with FPID.

jackandjill 683 Posted April 1, 2015 Post the letter. Time to embarrass this goon. The original inquiry (and phone conversation) was about person who already obtained FPID. ---------------------- Mr. XXXXXXXXXX Ref. xx-xxx I am in receipt of your email inquiry to the State of New Jersey, Office of the Governor regarding your question on the legality of transporting a firearm on a motorcycle. Please see the New Jersey Statute below and comply with the law. If you have further questions, please call me directly at 609-882-2000, extension 6619. Sincerely, Lt. J. XXXXXX 2C:39-6. Exemptions g. All weapons being transported under paragraph (2) of subsection b., subsection e., or paragraph (1) or (3) of subsection f. of this section shall be carried unloaded and contained in a closed and fastened case, gunbox, securely tied package, or locked in the trunk of the automobile in which it is being transported, and in the course of travel shall include only such deviations as are reasonably necessary under the circumstances. Lt. J. XXXXX New Jersey State PoliceFirearms Investigation Unit Unit Head
PK90 3,570 Posted April 1, 2015 I don't see your question. Not specific enough of a response to warrant ousting. Form a letter in writing about keeping your firearm in your trunk and traveling outside the exemptions. Quote the law specific to that and address it to the NJAG and not the NJSP pencil pushers. You'll see what kind of response you would get. Have an attorney do it if you want. Me and others see the law clearly.
PK90 3,570 Posted April 1, 2015 I hope your Lt. J. XXXXXX is not Lt. John Thurmond

Original question was sent to Gov office requesting AG office clarification on transporting unloaded long guns on motorcycle "WITH" FPID. I also quoted the 2C:39:5© and requested if unloaded long guns "MUST" be in the closed container. So the letter went from Gov office to AG office to NJSP, where I didnt want it to go. No, its not Thurmond. xxxxxx.
PK90 3,570 Posted April 1, 2015 Joe is an okay guy. He bought my Pmags before. Maybe he misunderstood or was just giving you an answer he was told to give.
jackandjill 683 Posted April 1, 2015 Joe is an okay guy. He bought my Pmags before. Maybe he misunderstood or was just giving you an answer he was told to give. Possible. Again, my intentions arent to prove or disprove anything about NJSP. With weather warming up (hopefully), I have genuine limitations (no side carry, no tethering options etc) on how I can transport my long guns to range on motorcycle. carl_g 568 Posted April 1, 2015 I wouldn't have bought anything from that shop, I would have called the State Police and asked if it was legal to own hollow point ammunition in front of him. Lol yeah that would have taught him a lesson.
Carcano 14 Posted April 1, 2015 Lol yeah that would have taught him a lesson. No, it wouldn't...but I would make sure I came out ahead and not spew bullshit laws.
