I'm glad Christie pardoned her. Who are others that still need a pardon? Doesn't Brian Aitken still need a pardon to get his firearms rights back because of that remaining hollow point charge conviction?  So what other people are there? How many years do some of these cases go back?

When the annual review for the carry permit 'needs based' requirements in NJ was up for review some months back , why couldn't Christie just have made an executive order that added self defense as a valid reason for 'needs based' NJ carry permit requirements?

Fixed that For ya

No, NJ isn't required to honor PA permits. Get caught with a concealed handgun in NJ and do the time.

Saying you should need a passport to cross into NJ is laughable, just because two states border each other doesn't mean the laws are equal.

When I got my non-resident Utah CCW I made sure I double  triple checked where I could carry and where I couldn't, how hard is it for someone to punch in Google "PA CCW NJ" and within 60 seconds you will see it's a no-go? or call NJSP if they do not own a computer and ask?

Carl_g says PA treats it residents like adults (no test for CCW) so if PA residents can't follow the law or inquire it's not PA or NJ's fault, again ignorance is not a valid excuse.

I feel sorry for her and agree with the pardon Christie gave but he could do much more, NJ should honor PA permits and issue CCW permits for self-defense to all residents..

I am sure Carcano realizes that a passport is required for travel to a foreign country! The passport reference by Zeke was a joke and Carcano addressed it as such!

The PRNJ may seem like a foreign country to those in the free states but in fact we are brothers in the same country, most with more 2A rights than we have. If we work together

to spread the word about our lack of rights here to others in our great country, they might just back us and help us to make changes here!

Yep, used up 10 books in 7 years ;)

And yes, PRNJ appears (on the surface) to be a foreign country to those in free pro-2A States.

Christie could move this forward and work on CCW but alas in politics this is a touchy subject.

So they should research the law before crossing into NJ, ignorance is no excuse.

I actually agree with this.. it is certainly on the individual..

I will just add this.. to someone that has lived in PA their whole lives.. and is not an avid gun enthusiast.. someone that just owns a gun for protection.. applies for the proper permit in home state and all that.. it is somewhat foreign that the license would not be good nationwide.. I mean I have only lived in PA like 5 years now.. but when I go to states that disallow firearms it is very unnatural and odd to me to have to not carry my gun.. sometimes I feel like I only know that I can't because I am really into guns and have lived in a state that disallows them.. think about a drivers license.. something that is not a "right".. you get one.. and can freely travel the country with your car.. it is natural to do that.. I am sure a lot of people carrying in NJ on out of state permits simply assume the same.. "I am a law abiding citizen.. I have a legal gun.. and I have obtained a permit to carry that gun".. it is unnatural to assume that maybe there are states that would not honor your license.. unless of course this is something you happen to be aware of..

Imagine living in a free state where nothing is needed to carry a gun. You do it your whole life. No training, no permit, no nothing. It is a foreign thought to have to think that it would against to law to do so in another state.

it LOOKS like he did the right thing because he actually DID DO the right thing..

funny.. as all this unfolded everyone yelled about how christie should do something... now he has done something.. and since he has done something its not good enough.. LOL

Nope, it is all smoke and mirrors.

Does not matter what Christie does--he could force the state senate to pass unrestricted right to carry, permanently enshrine it in the state constitution, enact reciprocity, repeal the evil features prohibitions, and allow any and all weapons as NJ legal.  And he would still be anti 2A,  with evil ulterior motives, a mere stepping stone to the national stage and running for POTUS.  Just another focus-group decision, dog and pony, he is only changing the current gun laws, it is political theater of CC lies, he planned this all out ahead of time when he singlehandedly enacted the anti laws in the first place.

I just hope I can exit NJ before the next D Governor, who will be unlikely to veto any new laws from the state senate.
