Remember 870 & 1100 chokes

Recommended Posts

Yes. RemChoke was introduced in '86, 1100's and 870's ( & 887's & 11-87's) since that time all utilize the RemChoke system. Some other premium models utilize choke tubes with the Pro Bore system which is suited for overbored barrels. (Pro Bore's are threaded at the muzzle end.)

PS - Nice cross-reference chart Vlad. Thanks

Yeah I was excited when I found that chart trying to understand all the various types of Beretta chokes and what other brands use which one. You'd think by now we would have settled on just a couple of designs but  nooooooooo we seem to need to invent new ones every 12 weeks or so.

Was just having fun with you guys.

But really...What kind of lube are you guys using on the threads.

I put a finger full of the gorilla grease I use for my muzzeloader breach plug, on the threads of the choke before I screw it in. Been working in my shotguns for years. It's actually almost like a wax consistency. And it smells good, for some reason I love the smell of that purple stuff

Any grease is good. Birchwood-Casey makes one for choke tubes, Permatex Anti-Size is good also. I've used both.

Invest in a good choke tube wrench as well. Some supplied by the gunmaker's are okay, some are designed better than others too. I use a universal wrench sold by Precision Reloading called the Royal Choke Tube Wrench. With this any stubborn tube can come out and you won't mar the end of your barrel in the process.

Glad there's some kind of consensus. I use anti seize as well.

I do have a good wrench for stuck tubes but usually just use a quarter coin. for 12ga.

This is off the topic of RemChoke tubes, but a good choke tube wrench is worthwhile to have. The old-style Beretta with thread chaser is also favorite of mine. Their new style offers the thread chaser in brass, which is probably a good idea. (From L-R: Royal fits Beretta/Browning/Remington/Ruger 12 ga., Beretta-12, Beretta-20, Browning-10/12/16/20 & Remington-12.)
