dajonga 396 Posted April 17, 2015 I put this post up on the S&W forum, but I thought another post couldn't hurt. Maybe there is a 2nd Gen. S&W expert here.... I just took delivery of my 659. Of course, the first thing you do when you get a gun is learn how to take it apart. I thought I knew how to put it back together. I have followed the manual and I have watched youtube videos, but something is not right. See photos below... The bushing is on straight, allowing the recoil rod and spring to sit in the proper grove. I depress all 3 little levers that stick up near the hammer. That 3rd one, the Firing Pin Safety Lever, needs a metal object to push down. From there, the slide will not travel back to allow me to put the take down pin back in. I have tried it a dozen times, with hammer both up and down, to no avail. The last photo shows how far back the slide will go ( and go no more.) Opinions? PK90 3,570 Posted April 17, 2015 Hold it muzzle up when you put the pin in.
dajonga 396 Posted April 17, 2015 Well, that was fun. I got it, but I do not know how. I cursed and banged and it eventually went back together.
RobertJames 14 Posted April 19, 2015 I've got a 3913 tsw which looks very similar to yours, although a smaller frame. Mine though has a magazine disconnect, so it has 4 of those levers near the hammer. All but the last one are easily depressed, the last one needs help with some sort of tool to help it down. A third hand would be helpful sometimes too. Glad you got it back together, now go have some fun.
kman 56 Posted April 19, 2015 Very nice protected rear sight on that. I wonder why other manufacturers don't put wings like that on.
Parker 213 Posted April 19, 2015 Very nice protected rear sight on that. I wonder why other manufacturers don't put wings like that on. Maybe their logic follows why they they put that goofball rear sight on the M41 today, or why they dropped the M52, or....................oh nevermind.
