Sorry if this has been covered before, but I was under the impression that hollow point ammo was forbidden for all civilian use, even as a home defense round. Due to this, I have my VP9 loaded with Hornady Critical Defense. I was at the Woodland Park range over the weekend and a worker informed me that it is legal for home defense only. Probably better off with Hornady anyway, but clarification would be appreciated.

The crime of hollowpoint possession has nothing to do with "carrying." No gun required.

^^^^^THIS^^^^^

In fact, it's mentioned in the previous THREADS on this forum that someone in NJ was "jacked-up" for having an inert round with a hole in the casing that was made into a rabbit's foot charm!  Said charm was in "plain view" during a traffic stop (attached to the key chain in the steering column).

That was where in NJ?

Why do we do this over and over and over and over again.  I think the mods should immediately kill all threads about NJ gun law and redirect them to the actual law.  There is so much bad information both here and other places about what the law is.  ARGH!!!!     :hysteric:  :ireful:  :punish:  :deadhorse:

Howard, probably a healthy sign that indicates we have new shooters visiting the forum. Frustrating for the old guard, but always good to have new blood.

Adios,

Bob, don't get me wrong, I think it is great that new people are asking these questions.  The problem I have is that this sort of thread continually has misinformation.  I would think it better to when these come up that they be locked and redirected to a FAQ that has the correct information.  That would serve new shooters much better than getting often misleading advice.
