Carcano 14 Posted April 22, 2015 I've been looking at a Ruger 22/45 for some time now and Buds has them for $260 shipped: http://www.budsgunshop.com/catalog/product_info.php/products_id/13153 Any cons to this rim fire pistol? I hear reassembly can be a pain but any other cons/pros?
Vicious 138 Posted April 22, 2015 I have had one for a few years now and I love it. It is more accurate than I am. I handed it to a Marine that I met at The Bullet Hole once, and he put (his first) 3 shots through the same hole at 8 yards. I have put about 1k (not THAT many for a .22, I know) rounds through it and have never had a malfunction. That being said, it has only had CCI mini mags and other plated ammo through it. The lead stuff goes through my SP101 in .22. It's not that I think the lead stuff would induce malfunctions, I just don't like to open it up after every range trip. As you stated, it is a pain to disassemble. It's not technically difficult, it just requires a lot of force. it does loosen up a bit over time. When reassembling it, just pay attention to the manual. It makes it easier. There are no other cons that I can think of (that are unique to this semi-auto .22). I would recommend it. It is a fun little .22. I taught my girlfriend (who was very gun shy) how to shoot on it, and she now owns a BHP in 9mm. If you get it, enjoy! I'm sure you won't be disappointed. MedicYeti 96 Posted April 22, 2015 To reassemble you need to follow the instructions exactly. I printed out the directions, shrunk them and laminated them. I have a set in my range bag, In the case I use for my 22/45 and with my cleaning supplies. It's a great gun, shoots anything and is a ton of fun. I'd suggest using a local store before running to the Internet.

I will do a price request on here before jumping on buds, I really hate waiting for something to arrive and would rather buy it local if possible. siderman 1,137 Posted April 22, 2015 I highly reccomend swapping out the hammer disconnect bushing, best $10 I ever spent from Tandemkross and they have a bunch of other goodys for this gun. http://www.tandemkross.com/Steel-Hammer-Bushing-for-Mark-III-and-2245-Pistols_p_9.html watch the vid. It will fire a chambered rd w/o the mag after but pops out the mag easier and you dont need the mag in/out for takedown reassembly. I like the gun just dont shoot it much because I'd have to clean it(disassemble lol) but use it mostly for newbs at the range.
Howard 538 Posted April 22, 2015 Yea, definitely swap out the disconnect for a Bushing, I agree Tandemkross is a great place to get customizing parts for the gun. Be careful which one you get, they have several different models and they all look similar but are quite different. Here is mine:

T Bill 649 Posted April 22, 2015 Go on GunGenie.com the online website of Davidsons (Large Ruger Distributor). Look for your model and you can get quote from a local dealer online. Can order right there also. Might find not much of a difference when you get to the OTD price. With a Volquartzen kit and some tandemkross parts, it can be almost as smooth as a Smith 41 for a lot less money. I believe there are two models now with replaceable grip panels, instead of the molded in lower.

Budasac 13 Posted April 22, 2015 The 22/45 is a great gun (as are all the MKs). They shoot great out of the box and there are also a number of after market parts to make it even more accurate and shootable if you choose to step up your game. As already stated, be sure to get the model with replaceable grips, easily worth the extra cost. Disassembly isn't that difficult once you do it a few times. I can field strip mine blind folded. T Bill 649 Posted April 22, 2015 But can you put it back together blindfolded? After you do it a few times it gets real easy. Pick a day and do it three or more times and you'll never have another problem.

Pick a day and do it three or more times and you'll never have another problem. From a field strip? Yes. From the pile of parts in that picture? Hell no. I had a friend at my club call me on it one day. He never takes his apart. I stripped it and reassembled it blindfolded. It's only 4 parts. It's actually really easy once you understand what going on inside. It's the hammer strut that typically screws people up on reassembly.
Albanian 121 Posted April 23, 2015 I want to get the 22/45 lite blue.
mipafox 438 Posted April 23, 2015 I have three friends that have them and I want to get one. They are great! And everybody likes the feel of 1911. Except for Communists. I've only shot my friends' suppressed so I don't know if they have any issues with ammo. But we've been shooting them for years and never an issue suppressed of course.
