new range in Hunterdon County.Flemington

Recommended Posts

i pass there often, never much action to report, i seen a security guard parked there a few times. FB says retail store was supposed to open in July but I think they are slowly working. I did notice a new banner says rented to tactical training center or something like that over the for rent sign.

well I for one hope they open soon and aren't all about serving the cops and not the general public. I wont get a membership because I really don't like shooting indoors that much and it looks like its a bit expensive, but I would definitely use this range to test out new loads I have worked up. This way I don't have to spend half a day going to EFGA and back just to test out a few rounds.

Anyone hear anything more.

I asked for a membership form, they are looking for folks to prepay for their membership, which I would never do.  I asked when they are planning to open, and they said retail was supposed to open in July.

Just looking at the pricing tiers, I do get the sense that if they ever open, they will be all about LE, not so much the public

Prepayment for membership??? With no opening date nor solid marketing. You re right. Their niche may be LE. Thus the crappy website as well.

latest update from their FB page posted tonight,

We appreciate your patience as we continue to move forward with the range. Thank you so much for all the interest, encouragement and support! We plan to open the retail shop in September and anticipate the range to be open this Autumn. Permits and construction already underway. Pictures to come shortly, so please visit us often!

As much as I agree with all the comments, I am going to go there regardless due to the fact I live 5 minutes from it.

Plus if you get the top membership you get free shoe shines. I hope this place will not be an overpriced county club for cops and fuds.

I think you guys will be pleasently surprized..... drove by and took a peek... nice.....BIG!!!!!!!

I too believe they may have an excellent, big and spacious facility based on what is stated on the site and my knowledge of the building, I just hope they have a good business plan... Their site does not engender much confidence and that is their only selling point at this point besides a couple of articles in the Hunterdon Democrat that appear to skew towards a LEO focus.

Modern ranges like RTSP, Bullet Hole/Woodland and Heritage Guild set a reasonably high bar for customer focus, professionalism, etc.  I regularly drive the 45 minutes to HG for the facility and staff and would easily do the same to RTSP or Woodland if it didn't exist.

I live about 12 minutes away but proximity is only valuable if you find the place attractive to spend your money.

I really hope that the site is just a jokey place holder and the real one is getting setup along with their marketing plan and branding, etc...  If the Suks, monitor this site, they may want to that into consideration.

I've no direct knowledge of what is going on, but if I were trying to get the myriad permits and approvals necessary to get this business off the ground, I'd be pushing the LEO angle hard as well

It doesn't mean they aren't well aware of how much money could be made off of the civilian market.

I agree with ReadDude the web site is, well a little goofy but I think it goes in the other direction that most place want to push.. alot of places go with that strait up academy type setting. This seems to be more laid back..the web site that is.. as far as membership goes its not manditory. If you dont want to be a member you can still come in off the street and shoot.... I know alot of places charge twice as much to join.... I happen to be a member of EFGA and at 35 bucks a year it cant be beat... but here again it dosent bother me to drive an hour and use a porta potty...lol some not so much...

I live 5 mins away and I am a member of EFGA. while I prefer to shoot out doors this range is so close to home I am looking forward to it opening. However I wont be getting a membership. ill just pay hourly and I have no problem with that. This would be perfect for me if I have an hour or so to kill but don't have the time to blow half a day going to EFGA and back. if the range ends up being like rays used to be and only want to cater to police well then they wont get any money from me but I will see what they are actually like instead of speculating on the internet on how they are going to act towards civilians.

I met the owners at a barbeque on Sunday. They were very nice and very excited about the project. I will check it out when they open.

Their Facebook photos show real progress on the range itself.
