What makes a unique mosin ????

Recommended Posts

There are a lot of different Mosin variations. And when I saw a lot, there is A LOT!

Rarity can be based largely on production numbers, but numbers don't mean everything. There can be stampings, trench art, numerous rearsenals, country captures (one Mosin traveling through 2 or 3 countries is very cool), and many other things. That website that OG gave you is a good start. There are quite a few Mosin sites that you can spend months reading and informing yourself on. The one thing about Mosin's is since most of their history is old and they originate from other countries, many specifics on some still haven't been deciphered by the East nor the West. The Russians and Finn's didn't really document much and most of the people who are Professor Mosin's as I like to call them (incredibly knowledgeable Mosin enthusiasts) have usually traveled to both countries and/or have contacts there. AKA Vic Thomas.

I have a decent knowledge on them so if you'd ever like to PM me to talk Mosin's, please feel free! I can talk your ear off :-)

Speaking of unique, here is a really cool one. XO-47 is a stamping that is still a mystery stamp (like xo-46, tombstone, etc) and there could be numerous stories to how this could have happened. So far this is the only one known of this specific Mosin.
