P2P for Mk3 barrel?

So I shot my first rimfire action match yesterday and now I have a list of parts to upgrade on my mostly stock Ruger mk3.

 

I was looking at some pac-lite barrels and I see you have to ship them to an FFL, but not sure if I need a pistol permit here in NJ as well.

 

I'm assuming yes, since it's so ridiculous here, but would like confirmation before I get too excited...

Yes you do on the Ruger MK series of pistols the upper receiver/barrel is the serialized part requiring a P2P.

Not just a NJ thing!

 

On a Ruger Mk pistol the barreled action is considered the controlled entity. This is a BATF thing.

 

Applies to all states and it's just like buying a complete handgun.

Yes, but unlike most states, we need an extra permit to acquire said part/gun! Thanks for the replies.
