Polish AK from Atlantic - Opinions?

Recommended Posts

In my continued effort to expand my AK collection (even though I swore in the beginning I was only going to get one just to check them out), I was looking at these two rifles on Atlantic Firearms webiste:

https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/polish-ak47-7-62x39mm-rifle-wood-detail.html?Itemid=0

https://www.atlanticfirearms.com/component/virtuemart/shipping-rifles/petronov-armament-ak-47-7-62x39mm-rifle-with-wood-stock-set-detail.html?Itemid=0

Has anyone seen either one of these in person and can comment on the build quality?

I started out this week thinking that I would just buy a WASR as a project gun (e.g., refinish the wood, replace the front grips, etc.); however, I saw these two online and now I'm wondering if it makes sense to spend a little bit more money if the build quality is better.

Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated.

Though there are exceptions - in my opinion the pecking order is as follows:

Bulgarian

Russian

Serbian

Chinese

Polish

Hungarian

Egyptian

Romanian

As far are the Petronov - it's a US build (Parts kit) gun - I have no experience with them

As for purchasing from Atlantic - you need to confirm exactly how the model designation

is stamped on the gun - if the model uses "AK-47" it is banned in NJ no matter what the

configuration is, so verify before you purchase.

No but If I could make a suggestion - don't buy a WASR,

There are so many better quality AK's out there for the money.

IF you must buy a WASR - make sure it's a WASR-10 which was produced

as a double stack rifle, and not an original WASR which was a converted Single Stack.

I sell a good number of AK's  - if you looking, call me!

Thanks for the tips - I'll try to give you a call this afternoon. I'm definitely looking for another AK but I'm not 100% wedded to the idea of getting a WASR. I'd like to hear about other options that I'm not considering.
