New Palmetto State Armory AK - Question about NJ Compliance

I was just looking at the new AK47 that Palmetto State Armory has just released and noticed in the pictures that the receiver is stamped "S/N AKxxxxxx"

 

Does that stamping put the rifle outside of the rules for NJ, or is okay because it is not stamped "AK47"?

The serial # does not matter. The model # does.  Post a link to the rifle.

If you look at the picture in post #33 in the link below, it looks like the model number is stamped as "PSAK47".

Going by that pic, if "AK47" is in the model name, I would say it's a no-go. You could argue the point that it actually says "PSA-K47" but do you really want to roll that dice?

I wouldn't roll the dice for this particular rifle. I'm not a fan of the Magpul handguards and the price seems a bit high for what it is

on that note, has anyone actually been arrested or charged with possessing an "assault weapon" based on what it says on the receiver? or is this just spooky language?

I've never heard of anyone ever running into that kind of trouble (I did a quick Google search and couldn't find anything). That being said, and as seemingly ridiculous as this law seems to be, I don't want to be the test pilot for that situation - especially with this rifle (I'm really not a fan of the Magpul furniture).

From what I've heard at a couple of gun shops, this gun is a "no go" for NJ due to the model stamping

Worth a bump they are shipping now, at a great price. they will not ship to NJ yet. 

 

Im sure they will do so with time, from PSA

If you check other forums, the PSA AK variant didn't get such great reviews.  I heard their first batch was recalled due to improper head spacing, and I'm also hearing that they're using cast bolts (as well as IO inc and older century c39 rifles).  Don't know if it's true (cast bolts), but it's something to take into consideration.
