Where to get AB-10 (Tec-9) magazines?

Recommended Posts

Haha good one. But I'm sure you can only get 33rders in Camden. Not like criminals pay attention to a 15rd mag limit law.

Tec-9's are cool. I thought they weighed over 50oz but I guess not. I did a quick google search and didn't get much for 10's. I'd grab a bunch of 20's and get them blocked by a forum vendor.

Be careful, this is VERY sketchy! My FFL and I agreed it wasn't worth the risk based on the email below from Lt. Genova NJSP FIU. Read it carefully.

Ira at Legend Firearms in Marlboro had received a AB-10 I purchased last year, we both thought it was good to go but a contact he knows at NJSP sent him the following email (I have redacted phone numbers/email addresses):

Here is the email that was sent to Lt. Genova:

Joe,

I have weighed the Intratec AB-10 firearm on a U.S. Postal Certified scale with the gun and two (2) empty magazines.  The weight of the gun comes to 3lbs 2 oz. with two mags on the scale for a total of 50 oz.  With one mag it comes to 2lbs 15oz for a total weight of 47oz.  Based on the weight I believe this would make it Jersey legal using your interpretation of 50 oz. or less unloaded with one mag.  Since the firearm did not come with any mags I used a Glock 17 mag which is composite over steel, which will be heavier than the stock 15 round or 10 round mag.

Please let me know if you concur.  If you do I will transfer the firearm to the purchaser.

Here is the response:

Ira
Based on your description and the details of weight you provided, the firearm appears to be permitable for transfer, however, if the person substitutes a heavier magazine than what you used to weigh it, then is may be deemed an assault weapon.  I can not give you legal advise or a legal opinion, however, my personal opinion based on my years of knowledge and experience, I suggest you do not complete the transfer as this is too close to call for my comfort zone.  If you have any further questions or need to discuss, please call me.  Thanks

Polak,

They are neat pistols but be careful with this it could backfire.

That email from Lt. Genova makes it clear (layman's terms) that this is treading on thin ice, if you decide to have it transferred keep a copy of the P2P with it at all times. To the untrained it's a "TEC-9"..

The magazine is not part of the gun. The AB10 has always been legal.

Based on Lt. Genovas email it appears they (NJSP) take magazine weight into consideration, too.

however, if the person substitutes a heavier magazine than what you used to weigh it, then is may be deemed an assault weapon.
