USANA in Elmer - Might join tomorrow, range rules?

Recommended Posts

Hey fellers.  I know I've seen a few of you with this club as your home range.  I've called and talked to Skip several weeks ago and he told me I just have to come at 8am any saturday or sunday to join.  I've been debating hard wether to join USANA or SJSC, and since USANA clocks in at $40 less per year and 15 minutes closer to my house I'm leaning that direction.  I tried calling the number again but didn't get an answer, so I figured I'd ask here in the hopes someone who goes here could answer a question that's basically my deciding factor..

What's the longest range at this club, and do they allow plinking?  If so, are there rules regarding what and how far certain materials can be shot at?  Do they sell backers on site, or do you have to make your own?

I wasn't initially planning on going shooting this weekend, but I've had some previously tied up "fun funds" become free and I've got 500 rounds of commie blasting ammo in the closet I've been waiting to shoot.   Just don't feel like driving 75 minutes to Range-14.  -_-

I suggest visiting SJSC. Banger's Sport Shop is onsite and its a really nice shop despite prices being on the higher end. SJSC has a country club feel about it with 15, 25, 50, 100, 300 yards ranges and an active shooting pit where they hold 3 gun and other matches. Supposedly either a 600 or a 1000 yard range is in the works. I havent been to USANA in about 2 years, but every time I went the 100 yard pits were either flooded or not in service and the whole place had a very run down feel about it.

100 yard range. I go during the week and sometimes I'm the only one there. Never been there on the weekends. Dont know about plinking. There is a gun shop on rt. 40 I believe about 5 minutes away where you can buy targets. Backers are on every range and usually 2 or 3 times a year they ask for volunteers to help rebuild them.

If you are around tomorrow ill guest you in at sjsc. Its 15$. I should be there around 1-2:00

Saw this a little late...  Damn!  I ended up taking a 3 hour drive to my buddy's farm out in Lancaster Co. PA.  I just wasn't feeling USANA only having the 100 yd range...  regardless of the plinking being ok or not.  In fact, it kinda pisses me off that SJSC limits plinking to the 50 yard range.  No point in me joining the club...  :(

On the bright side of today...  I shot .50 AP-I.  At a tractor tire @ a~200 yds. I caught it on fire. Then we blew some shit up.

And, somehow, between the .50, .458 SOCOM, AK-47 (Rock'n'roll :D) and his 1911... I gave him $100 towards the insane amount of ammo we used and came home with the same 500 rounds I left with.  Yup... Went shooting, didn't even touch my own rifle.
