Nu2gunz 22 Posted June 11, 2015 Just got interested in learning more about Pistols. About to apply for an FID and looking to eventually purchase a Plinker Semi Auto Pistol. Took the 2 hour intro course at Banger's and will likely take the the NRA Intro to Pistols course this fall.
Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted June 11, 2015 Welcome to the forum. Cherry hill was notorious for adding forms and/or requirements to the FPID/P2P process. Not sure if that is still the case since ANJRPC's Strikeforce Project. Please let us know if the situation has been remedied in Cherry Hill. All you need for your FPID/P2P is: The application (STS-033) Fingerprints (done by a third party - police will advise. Subsequent apps forego fingerprinting in leiu of a non-criminal background check, unless your CLEO is a prick) Mental Health Background Check (SP-066) Anything additional - like asking who else resides at your address or notarization of any documents is ILLEGAL. Good luck. Adios, Pizza Bob

Nu2gunz 22 Posted June 11, 2015 Nice to meet you! I've heard the stories and spoke to a very nice clerk at Bob's Little Gun Shop who gave me a lot of great info. I've also been reading here about it and hope that they don't give me a hard time. If they try to, I'm certainly armed with a lot of good info against their ridiculous requests. For now, I'll have to get the process started.

Pizza Bob 1,488 Posted June 11, 2015 all of my customers that've applied have told me that everyone in their home got letters from chpd notifying them of the impending purchase. i can't remember if they were asked anything or not. Highly illegal - they are breeching confidentiality in violation of NJAC 13:54-1.15, which states: Any background investigation conducted by the chief of police, the Superintendent or the county prosecutor, of any applicant for a permit, firearms identification card license, or registration, in accordance with the requirements of this chapter, is not a public record and shall not be disclosed to any person not authorized by law or this chapter to have access to such investigation, including the applicant. Any application for a permit, firearms identification card, or license, and any document reflecting the issuance or denial of such permit, firearms identification card, or license, and any permit, firearms identification card, license, certification, certificate, form of register, or registration statement, maintained by any State or municipal governmental agency, is not a public record and shall not be disclosed to any person not authorized by law or this chapter to have access to such documentation, including the applicant, except on the request of persons acting in their governmental capacities for purposes of the administration of justice. With the recent published court findings, and the notification of all PD's in the state by the ANJRPC, there is no excuse for a PD to add anything to the process. Should the PD attempt that, or should they deny your application because of failure to comply with their illegal requests or actions, you need to file a complaint with the NJ AG charging Official Misconduct (2C:30-2). The AG is obligated to investigate and the last thing any of these PD's want is the AG's office up their a$$. Just sayin' Adios, Pizza Bob

TheWind 17 Posted July 15, 2015 Welcome, I just put in for two pistol permits in Hamilton Township in the woods. It was simple, the forms were the same I filed 40 years ago,. The cover letter said they are striving to complete it in 30 days. The only exception was in the case of reference letters not getting there in time. I have never had an issue there as they are gun-friendly.

I just got my FID last year and it took almost 5 months and i then put in for 2 Pistol permits a monther or so after I got my FID and it took almost 3 months. But I'll say this, when I put in paperwork for my FID they asked if I wanted pistol permits with it like they ask of you want fries with a burger from any fast food joint

mipafox 438 Posted August 7, 2015 But I'll say this, when I put in paperwork for my FID they asked if I wanted pistol permits with it like they ask of you want fries with a burger from any fast food joint They asked me the same question and suggested I get a pistol permit 25 years ago. I'm pretty sure they didn't want the extra $2 or whatever, they were just trying to help because of the arduous process. There are cops in NJ that don't want you to have guns, there are a few cops that do want you to have guns, and there are cops that look at it like a vehicle registration and just want to get it out the door.
