Remington R1 carry commander 1st impressions..

Recommended Posts

I am impressed with the Remington R-1 1911 carry commander that i recently purchased..So far it is the only 1911 i have purchased with no flaws out of box. Range time to be seen on how it operates.. Ill will post an update thread on operation.

The safety is smooth no grinding or catching when applied or disengaged.

Mag release is also smooth.

The fit and finish is very good, barrel lock up is amazing for production pistol, slide fit is very good not to loose and not overly tight.  bushing fit is very good to slide and barrel. chamber is clean cut no overly sharp edges.

Rifling is very clean cut..

The stippling is very good not overly sharp like my kimber was.

All machined parts are clean no grooves or lips left behind.

All corners of pistol smooth no sharp edges.

no machining or grinding material left in pistol, was fired and oiled with what looks like rustlik corrosion protectant has that rust brown color to it.

Trigger is very good, pull breaks at 3-7/8.

I am hoping it shoots as well as it represents..

pics coming in a few. I wiped it down and lubed it did not swab the bore gun was very clean accept test firing left behind..

Nice review, good job. If I did not have so many 1911's now I would give one a look. As someone indicated  the full size  government model I have is rock solid with close to 5000 rds thru it. May  end up trading it in on the commander model.
