usually a small circle with numbers around the outside like a single handed clock with arrow pointing to the month 1-12.....and a 2 digit year number staggering the center of the "clock" arrow

There is definitely something going on with a batch of these. The early adopters like myself had no problems with these. I own 20. They are all black.

Any details on what caused it?  I'm curious as I ordered a few of the hexmags.  I have yet to try them but am considering taking them out after hearing all the stories.

 

I mainly use the pinned pmags from MidwestPX but I figure if I'm shooting in a muddy match where I am going to drop it, I figure I would use these instead of my pmags.  They probably are not going to see much heavy use though.

I dunno about these. I know a lot of people have been buying them and growing pains happen but I think I'll still stick with the pmags for now. Never an issue with any of the several Midwest mags I have

Don't care how cheap these are, I'll pass on them. There are just way too many bad reviews on them out there, not worth the hassle for me.

^agreed I'll stick with my pmags. I stocked up when I found them for 11 bucks each if I bought 10 or more so it's not like they were more expensive than hex mags anyway

failure attributed to fractured mag catch on exterior of magazine, a manufacturing defect. Appears to be an isolated failure as the other hexmag from the same lot is ok. Note that hexmag is planning on introducing a .308 mag sometime within the next 12 months

Went to pull a 15/30 hexmag out of the safe today where it had been just sitting on a shelf, loaded with 14 rounds.  As soon as I had it in my hand it vomited about 5 rounds.

As far as I know I've never dropped it/abused it, unless filling it to capacity, inserting it into an AR and leaving it inserted while firing the ammunition counts as abuse.

I don't feel either way about hexmag, but they have been continuously updating their mags, with the older one having issues they fix in newer ones.

I have one from the 6/13 batch as well that split the same way.  Haven't sent it out yet to be fixed but the their customer service was on top of it right away.
