What light should I own?

I have a couple of flashlights that serve me well, and I really don't *need* anything FWIW.

 

My current go-to flashlights are one of those AA $3 Cree Chinese specials that are advertised at 300 lumens but are probably half that. The other is a 3 cell 123a Kobalt that is 1000 lumens. Both lights were very affordable which is what I like.

 

What should I buy next? I like big bang-for-the-buck deals like what I have. Preference goes to non 123A cells.

 

I know this is vague, but some of the best deals I'll miss in life I will never know about.

nearly anything streamlight. i use them at work. i have 2 of them with spare batteries for both. i forget the rating......but they're friggin fantastic. take anything i do to them too

Weapon light or just everyday light?

I have a Fenix PD35 that I love. Has 5 brightness settings ranging from 10 lumens for a reading light to 960 lumens for investigating bumps in the night. Also a strobe setting if you're so inclined. It does use x2 CR123 batteries or a single rechargeable. Starts at about $70 online for just the light, but available packages include a rechargeable battery and/or weaponlight set-ups. I have the factory rechargeable battery and I'm so far impressed with how long the battery has lasted, though I'll admit that I wouldn't be considered a heavy-duty user.

What are you using them for? I want my lights to work. Surefire & Streamlight are what I use. I've heard good things about Fenix, but haven't had a chance to use them yet. I use a light for work everyday, and I need it to operate properly. Streamlight makes some good led lights that run on AA batteries.

FourSevens Quark - I have 6 of these small lights, 5 cr123 versions and 1 AA version. I carry one with me at all times. Slides into my left front pocket with no issues and balances out the folder in my right front pocket.

I have a Streamlight on my HD pistol (TLR-3) which is great.. 

 

For around the house, i have a ton of small little LED flashlights which are good for getting around in a power outage, but my go-to at home is surprisingly a Task Force (lowes special) light.  Bright as anything, can light up the inside of my neighbors house if i wanted to, and throws a long beam out in the dark (can easily light up a 100 ft tall oak tree)..  have 2 of them, one upstairs one downstairs...

 

i dont carry a flashlight around with me, so no comments on that

I'll second the Fenix PD35's. I have a few, and I like them very much for the reasons Boo posted above.

I was looking for a non-weapon light. I actually want a weapon that can mount a light, but I don't have that option unless I drive wood screws into my Carbine.

 

There are lots of good lights out there, but I am curious to see if any of the other Ultrafire-esque lights are worth it.
