P2P seller information

Recommended Posts

Question, I understand that on a NJ permit to purchase form the seller’s SS# is voluntary.   What about the seller  “seller’s Identification Card NO./Seller’s SBI#”?   The situation is this… the father passed away long time ago and the mother found a handgun in one of the long forgotten box and want to get rid of it or sell it.  The mother does not have a FID and this is the only firearm.

Does she need to fill out the “seller’s Identification Card NO./Seller’s SBI#” during the transaction?

Is her name, address, phone #, and signature is good enough?

THX.

Am I mistaken this “seller’s Identification Card NO./Seller’s SBI#” as the seller’s FID?

(I understand that FID is only used to purchase…)

Can someone please direct me what ID# are they talking about?

THX.

Yes it is the Fpid, but as paul said optional. No FPID required to own or sell. I think NA or None is the appropriate entry.

The P2P's come in 4-Parts, so please make sure that the Seller retains her copy in w/ other important papers.  It is also the Seller's responsibility to see that the Buyer receives their copy, and then Buyer's local CLEO AND the copy for the NJSP all get mailed to those agencies.  Then everything is Kosher......

So without the Seller's SBI or SS number, does the Firearms Unit (in W Trenton) run a trace on subject handgun in order to remove said handgun from the registration listing of the Seller (or any previous Registered Owner) then add it to the registration listing of the Buyer?

Does anyone here have personal hands-on experience with the workings of the NJ Handgun Registration Database?

No personal knowledge, but an educated guess:

No check is run on the seller.

The firearm is run NCIC.

The firearm will still show up under the seller's info as once owned if a permit was used previously. In other words, it is never taken off.

Sent from an undisclosed location.
