Moto102 7 Posted August 4, 2015 I'm having a tough time.... Got three pistols for ccw. Only keeping one. Springfield xds 3.3 5+1 .45acp Kahr P40. 6+1 40s&w S&W 642 5 shot .38spl Let me know what you guy think
High Exposure 5,662 Posted August 4, 2015 Which one has been most reliable? Which one do you shoot best? All things being equal, I would go with the Kahr P40.
Moto102 7 Posted August 4, 2015 Well the revolver goes bang no matter what. The xds is rough after a few mags.. But we're talking heat of the moment. I shoot them all pretty well. No extreme difference. This is a tough one that why I turn to you guys for opinions
Shocker 150 Posted August 4, 2015 I vote the Kahr for the capacity. I chose my Shield in 9mm over .40 simply due to the extra round in the mag. Although you could always carry the XDS with the 5-rounder and have an extended magazine as your reload.
JayWilling 33 Posted August 4, 2015 Dead nuts reliability: S&W, but 38 has always been somewhat suspect as an SD round. (whether true or not is still debated) Good conceal and Power: XDs in 45. You could carry with the 7 rounder and one in the pipe- 8 rounds. Kahr is my definite choice to sell. First, I have seen some complaints and Kahr reliability and durability challenged. 2, 6+1 of 40 when you can carry 7+1 of 45. 3, personally I feel like I can place followup shots better with 45 than with 40, but that's me. It's a tough one twix the S&W and XDs, I have both, but when I can carry it's the 45.
illy 1 Posted August 4, 2015 642 loaded w/ good +P ammo.
PD2K 115 Posted August 5, 2015 Whichever one you shoot better with
Ray Ray 3,566 Posted August 8, 2015 40S&W + light gun= RECOIL 9mm is cheaper, has less recoil and more likely to be shot more which means better trained.
vladtepes 1,060 Posted August 8, 2015 I carried a 40 S&W Glock for about 3 years.. but just switched to 9mm for a smaller lighter gun... also I am hoping the reduced recoil amounts to faster follow up shots..
mipafox 438 Posted August 8, 2015 There is nothing questionable nowadays about .38 +P with Gold Dots (not my favorite in other calibers). If you can really shot them all the same, and none of them ever jam, go with the .40 or whatever you can figure out how to get moarer bullets in there fasterer. But I doubt that. I bet that .40 is a bit of a handful.
Rob0115 1,105 Posted August 9, 2015 I have a S&W 340PD. It's great and fits in my pocket. I have clip that holds in place. It's a .357 mag but I shoot .38 critical cefense ammo out of it.
